Faster Horses and Cows

Help Support Ranchers.net:

They are sold, buyer should get them this week or as soon as it warms up.
He bought some from us in 2005 and asked that we let him know if
we should decide to sell more. Funny thing, he came and looked and
we agreed on a price before I left on my cruise and he said he couldn't get them right away, so I (Mr. FH wasn't there at the time) said
"how about the 14th?" and we agreed.

Come to find out, we meant Nov. 14th and he meant Dec. 14th!!!!!! So they aren't gone quite yet.

I wanted them to be gone when I got home...so I didn't have to say
good bye to them. :cry2:

Well, they will have a good home and they won't have
to travel far on the semi's as he lives about 30 miles away.

30 miles. Why not just have a little trail drive. :D

FH, why are you selling out? I read this as being an entire herd dispersion, maybe I'm missing something. Sorry.

Old and tired...and yep, it's a whole herd dispersal.
We kept the heifer calves, will breed them this next spring and sell
them next fall. Anyhow, that's the plan. We've been raising
purebred black Angus since 1979 and I'm proud to say these are good cows we are selling.

Mr. FH is 65 and I'm not far behind. Time to take it easy.
We've beem responsible for caring for cows since we were 20 years old...maybe we'll decide it was the wrong
thing to do, but I doubt it. His back is shot, and he can't pick up calves like he used to. We just went to
a spine/back surgeon and Mr. FH has a fracture in his back.
Since it isn't excruciating they (he and the dr) decided that he
would live with it as long as possible PROVIDING HE MAKE SOME
LIFESTYLE CHANGES. He already has had one back operation. We
have no kids interested in carrying on our operation, sad to say.
We have one daughter and one grandson.

If we do get back into cattle, we would calve in May...
