The doc told me I had too much iron in my blood so I just give blood every time they come around. Its a good thing to do anyway. I think mine came from drinking all that hard water and coffee with high iron content. Since I quit using the hard water to make coffee the iron level in my blood has been normal. I don't think you would get that much from the cast-iron cookware.

Here we have soft water. And I was told not to use Vitamins with
iron or cook with cast iron cookware. So I don't.

There seems to be a lot of folks in this area that have this rare
afflicition. I was told to give blood and that would pretty much take
care of it, so I do.

Faster Horses, is the rare affliction you spoke of polycephemia vera? I just got diagnosed with it a couple of months ago and they're drawing a unit of blood about every four weeks.

What I have been diagnosed with is hemochromatosis.
I really have no symptoms, it was discovered with a blood screening
when I attended the local health fair. For some reason, it seems
to be common in this area although it is said to be rare. I have to give blood at least 4 times
a year, so it's not that difficult. I have a friend who has it, also discovered
here during the health fair and the iron in his blood was so high,
he had to have phlebotomies done every week. He has it under control now,
but his kids were tested and they have it.

I'm not familiar with what you have, but good luck with it.

That's better than the Grumpyolphartitis you and I have.

I was feeling a little down so I went in and got checked, turn's out I have Chinese leukemia...you know when the iron in your blood turn's into the lead in your ass!!

I agree with Katrina good one Bruce

But on a more serious note to Faster horses be careful with the glass lids on your fry pans as I bought some glass lid fry pans and I was frying something one night and I had the lid pop and fall into the food in a thousand pieces. It scared me with the pop and did nothing for my mood when I had to toss supper in the trash and start over.

I have had others with no trouble but I watch them pretty close.
