ON SUNDAY NIGHT A CLIPPER SYSTEM DIVES ACROSS ALBERTA IN STRONG NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT WITH THE WAVE PROGGED TO DEEPEN AS IT CATCHES UP WITH THE WEAKNESS IN THE HEIGHT FIELD LEFT BY THE PREVIOUS SYSTEM. IT LOOKS LIKE A PACIFIC FRONT CROSSES MOST OF THE AREA BY 12Z MONDAY SO HAVE COOLED OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES A BIT... TEMPERATURES ON MONDAY WILL NOT EXCEED 12Z READINGS. GOING TO BE A VERY WINDY DAY AS STEEP LAPSE RATES...STRONG PRESSURE RISES...STRONG WINDS ALOFT AND STRONG GEOSTROPHIC SURFACE FLOW ALL LINE UP TO PRODUCE VERY WINDY CONDITIONS ACROSS THE PLAINS. WILL ISSUE THE HIGH WIND WATCH FOR MONDAY WITH THIS ISSUANCE. OTHER WEATHER OF IMPORTANCE WILL BE SNOW ALONG THE FRONT...AND IN PARTICULAR IN THE WRAP AROUND REGION IN EASTERN MONTANA. WILL ISSUE A BLIZZARD WATCH FOR FALLON AND CARTER COUNTIES AS LATEST NAM IS STARTING TO LINE UP WITH THE GFS MODEL AND PRODUCES .3 QPF DURING THE STRONGEST WINDS WITH 850 MB TEMPS AT -4. ELSEWHERE...PRECIP MAY BE UNDERDONE FOR OROGRAPHIC AREAS FURTHER WEST BUT NOT FULLY CONFIDENT OF HOW WET THIS SYSTEM WILL BE. MONDAY NIGHT WILL SEE THE WINDS DECREASE IN THE LATE EVENING WITH A VERY COLD NIGHT EXPECTED. BORSUM

rancher- I think its on its way---I was working cattle just south of the Canadian line today--beautiful morning, but shortly after noon the wind really picked up- black clouds moved in from the north--wind still howling out there....They are saying Big Muddy's country could pick up an accumulation of snow starting tonite thru Monday nite--we're supposed to have snow and blowing snow Monday.......

Can't even blame this one on the Canucks- they say this is coming backwards out of North Dakota......

They just issued a blizzard warning for eastern Montana on my local weather channel in western ND. Monday winds in eastern Mt supposed to be 45 mph with gusts to 60, plus 1-3 inches of snow. Be careful of any Canadians that blow down with the wind. I read a thread on this site that said they were all contaminated! LOL!

Relatives in Strattford, Iowa had a tornado come through. All of the inside part of the double paned windows cracked out but not the outside windows so no inside damage. Shed was given to someones else, don't know who.

Looks like we are going to get hit with that same storm. There are already winter storm watches out for this area. At least we wont be driving back from Calgary in this storm..... Drove home in the last storm and it took us 21 hours to get from Calgary to home. Hit the ice at Swift Current and drove all the way home 10-15 MPH was the best we could get in 4x4. Lots of semis in the ditch on their sides and lots more just stuck in the ditch. It was pure black ice. WE had the stock trailer behind and with 2 -2 year old black bulls in it. Was very hard on the nerves driving but we made it home and everyone was safe and sound. But it was the poiint of a 9.5 hour trip turning into a 21 hour trip. Driving in this country at this tiem of year is very unpredictable.

That makes for some muscle tightening trips M-R. I got bored this week and made a little trip to a casino here in ND. It is a very pretty drive as it is through the breaks and badlands. This road (hy.22) can be a hell of a drive when it is icy. They just started hauling big round bales off a field in that area and as there are hundreds of bales in that area, I can't believe they waited this long. Anyway, I came upon a semi load laying on its side on my side of the road. The cops waved me by, but I could see by the rubber, it looked like the driver blew a front left tire! It looked like a hell of a ride!

Btw: As far as the casino, I haven't been beat up that bad since I was about 7-8 yrs old and called my oldest sister a fatso! (a mistake I never made again!) :D
