Ty's buddy hit this buck yesterday-he flipped right over backwards but got back up and went a little over half a mile and got into a real jungle. We decided to leave him and track him this morning-the ravens and yotes found him first and this was pretty much all that was left.

some nice deer, and it looks like you're have'n fun but i have another dumb question. :?
down here in iowa and missouri the ravens are bunch'n up to go south, and it seems they're the first to go when it starts getting cold.ya still have em up there?do ya have some stick around?OR are they just late and you're have'n a good fall.
i was down on Table Rock Lake 2 weeks ago and they were in large bunches like they were gettin ready to migrate.
have a good season and wish'n ya luck.

No I'm pretty sure they stay up here all winter-they arean amazing bird they can make the most weird noises. If your ever calling coyotes with a rabbit decoy-make a raven call as they are coming in it drives yotes crazy.

Your question made me go look up ravens in my bird book. We have the common raven up here in Northern Alberta and they definitely stay all year. You may have the Chichuahuan raven down there. It is smaller - 19-21". The common is 22 - 27". To compare they say a red-tailed hawk is 19 - 25". The Chuhuahuan only is in the southern and some eastern states and they say it moves a bit more south in the winter. Thanks for the question. I learned something new today!

I read somewhere that ravens can get 40+ years old, I know they get pretty smart.
I'm betting one of your kids scratches down a big one yet. I think the best hunting is when the rut is tailing off, with the amount of deer you have the big boys don't have to go looking right now.

We saw 6 or & bucks this morning-I saw something I don't think I've ever seen though is two whitetail bucks travelling together with no does around. Canadian week is coming up so by the time that gong show is over the big boys will be back in a couple honeyholes.
