I was starting to wonder Soapweed, how come you hadn't posted any pictures lately.Nice pictures as always!

I like how one is training to be a trick rider and the other seems to always have his spurs up ahead of the point of the shoulder waiting on the chute.
Nice pics. I would trade you some weather right about now...

Thanks Soap, your photos and captions are always appreciated here.

Anybody ever tell you it's too early to be calving?

Hope this weather turns around soon. Supposed to be near -40 with the wind chill tomorrow here. ( That's some fine grammer for ya!)

Kids and cows look good! Your dad, 91 years old!!! Good for him!! Looks like he's still enjoying life! Mr. FH's mother is 93 and now resides in Assisted Living, but she is doing good too. I don't think folks of that age worried as much about what they were eating, much as people do now.
I know my mother-in-law loved meat and she ate a lot of it...

Soap your cows are always in good condition. If you don't mind me asking what do you feed for cake? How many pounds?

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, Gcreek, it is too early to be calving, at least this year. I am going to let the Kosmo Kid have full choice of when we calve next year. He is the one that it affects the most. We have a great capable neighbor girl who is doing the night shift, and she is doing a wonderful job. Her efforts are very much appreciated, and so far the Kosmo Kid has been able to sleep a full night's sleep each night.

After my falling down experience a couple weeks ago, I have resigned from calving duty. I can do all the feeding, if I don't get buggered up, so think my abilities might be more appreciated in this regard.

Eatbeef, our cows are getting two pounds per day of 28% cake, made at Farmer's Coop in Ainsworth, Nebraska. With my Hydra-Bed feed pickup equipped with a caker, I can do the caking and feed hay all in one fell swoop. My sister has been riding along to help go through gates and cut twine. It takes longer to cut and gather either twine or netwrap than it does to do the feeding, but I sure want the stuff kept picked up. It can really make a mess if it doesn't get done.

Looks like a light at the end of the tunnel next week, as far as weather goes. We can hardly wait. :)

Love the pictures looking good on the farm I shouldn't have any calves for a month hope it warms up. Do you have any problems with scours? Here it seems after a wet snow we get a few scouring Yours look clean and spread out which is the way it should be. Happy calving!
