I have always had a problem - - - it seems the cattle always leave about a foot of hay in the bottom of the feeders - - - I will leave it and put another bale a few yards away but then they leave hay in the bottom of it. This hay looks and smells good to me but they refuse it.
With a small group like mine I got to thinking and I am sprinkling mineral over the remnants of hay - - - guess what - - - they clean up the remaining hay right to the ground!
Probably most of you do not feed hay in feeders but if you do this might help.
