I am looking for a list of dairy farms and feedlots in south dakota. Im looking to market all of my alfalfa and just trying to get my business going. My plan is to send out postcards or something telling them what i have. If i still have quite a bit for sale come november I plant on having an auction in january sometime. If anybody knows where i could find a list of feedlots and dairies it would help me a lot. Thanks

Try advertising in the Green Paper ( I think it is called). I get the darn paper and can only remember it is green.

The Extension Service maintains their feedfinder website that will allow you to advertise on the web and I don't think it costs anything. I think all you need to do is contact your county extension agent. Other than that, I don't know if a list like you are wanting exists.

The state department of agriculture does have lists like that. They have done studies on feedlot numbers and I am sure they have done similar ones in the dairy industry. However, I know that they aren't complete.

You could contact the department of Agriculture or try to go through your county extension agent.

I would think that if you got your name and info out on as many sources as you can, those that are looking for hay will find you.

Good luck

Brian
