Feel Sorry for my Neighbor (sorta)

Had kind of a sticky embarrassing situation yesterday with a neighbor. There is 5 acres across from our driveway that had a house that burned down from a Meth lab being in it few years ago before we bought the place.

Since we moved here the owners daughter moved in travel trailer and was busted for cooking meth at it thanks to you know who

Well have a neighbor that owns land on the back side adjoining the 5 acres, he has been trying to buy it from the lady for years and we had offered to buy it from her since we moved here.

Well a few weeks ago she knocked on my door saying she wanted to sale ASAP. Long story short I bought it.

Neighbor is trying to get me to sell it to him now. For him it would make a nice place in future to build a home and give him access to his land behind it.

But for me it insures I will not have a neighbor any closer than almost a mile. Between the land we own, Creek bottom and railroad track we will be neighbor less for many years.

I feel bad for him because he would have liked to had it as bad as me. I did promise him I would never sell it and if I did he would be the only one I would sell it to.

Just hope it will not hurt our neighborly love.

based on the history, I guess your meth lab will be burning up in a couple months......... :???:

Hang on to the land good neighbors are nice but NICER when they are a mile away

Or 5 or 10 miles away. :)

I'm kind of like Abe Lincoln's dad, who supposedly said " If I can see the smoke from a neighbors chimney, they are too close."

Statistically in our County that would be a safe bet. We are the Meth capital of Kansas I think here in Cherokee County.

Hey aplus what kind of cleanup was done after the meth labs were busted? I understand that meth labs create something like six pounds of toxic waste for each pound of crystal meth created.

I am not sure that was a question I had wondered after someone else pointed it out to me.

I will assume it is OK or the officials would have kept it roped off.

I am kind of scared to go asking questions or someone might decide to look into it. I am just going to fence it off and not really use it for anything except keeping anyone from building or moving in trailer there.

The waste products are exothermic, and can be deadly, producing (I can't remember which kind of) gas, according to the seminar I went to. Do be careful around there until you have a better understanding of the situation. I'm sure a web search will tell you what you need to be aware of. Meanwhile keep the kids away from the place and stay safe.
