More deer pictures........ I promise I actually built some fence!

I took these pictures through my spotting scope. Not bad for looking across the canyon.

Some more wildflowers. Up high in the canyon and near water, there were still little bunches of flowers.

Dusk settles on the Sheeprock's. Hard-To-Beat canyon, so named by a wealthy mine speculator who lost his gold pocket watch here. He shut down the mine and put the crew to work looking. When the watch was never found he named the canyon. :D Happened around 1890

As we rode down the canyon the evening was HARD-TO-BEAT!

This mornin' i worked on the fence. The kids worked on mudpies! :D Bet they had more fun!

Pie-ala-mud! Little H told me she sure had a fun time at the ranch! :D

Mrs. Leanin' H took this one of the guy who was suppossed to be working.
Atleast i had my gloves with me!

Finally, some fence pictures! You know your posthole had issues when ya have a pile of rock left.

This granite country makes ya earn every inch of a posthole. I wanted a cedar post in this wash to help hold the wire. But i hit a ledge at 8 inches. So I improvised! Old net wire made a basket which I wired to the post and filled with boulders.

My cousin's, for whom I was fencing, didnt want to push a fence line in with the cat. They thought it would just encourage knotheads to ride along it on 4 wheelers. So I am cutting a trail as I go.

The finished product at the wash crossing. I guess i figured enough rocks to hold the post and wire! :D

This steel post was a bear. I had to try 12 spots to finally get it through the rock pile. But there she stands. Dare ya to pull that one without hydraulics!

Here's the end of the section i built. Plan to start another 1/4 mile Friday. My self-powered post pounder is laying there between the wire and bucket of ties. Maybe i'll shed some pounds this week!

Looking north where i'll cut a path for the fence. I have some survey posts out there somewhere. But i just line up on a ridgetop on the skyline and it is right on the line.

My old wheeler and fencing helper. It packs me and material to and from the project. Wish the country would allow me to use it to pull the wire. Maybe next section! :D Have a great evening! :D

Looks like fence buildin' in the middle of Texas. You'd have to dig about a 1000' post hole to hit a rock here, though.
Good to have the family along, ain't it! That pie looks deelishus!

Thanks for sharing all of the pics, Leanin H. Appears that you made a little bit of fun out of work. Good deal for you and yours. Best o' luck with the interview.

Thanks H for making my fencing look alot easier. Best have a shower before that interview. :-) Good luck.

After seeing your fence pictures I wont complain about digging post holes in hard dry dirt anymore. That fence looks pretty darn good, good job.

Thanks everyone! :D My fences look great from a distance! Ought'a turn a cow.

Per, I want ya to know i did shower. Twice in fact! :D Always good to wash off the top layer now and then.

My interveiw went pretty well! They said they planned to interview for 3 more weeks. But when the HR guy went to make copies of my paperwork, the guy who is my boss to be (hopefully) told me he was going to recommend hiring me! :D We'll wait and see! If so, i guess this can only mean one thing.............. That company has offically reached the bottom of the barrel!  :D Thanks for your crossed fingers and more! :D

Sounds like the perspective new boss has found a keeper and knows it. Anyone willing to build fence thru rock and brush country has to be a good worker.

nice pics H. fencing in that kind of country would drive me to drinkin', or drinkin' more i guess  hope the new job works out for you! good luck :!: :!:

Looks like my fencing days are numbered! I got a call this afternoon after the interview and i'm going to work! :D Thanks to ya'll for the thoughts and crossed fingers!

Justin, come on out and help me finish! It'll get your mind off your oat crop and I'll let ya have unlimited Pepsi to drink! :D Seriously though, that's why i post pictures on here............ When ya think ya got it tough you can just log on and see what I'm doing and suddenly your own troubles look pretty little! It's like walking around Wal-mart. You rapidly realize your life ain't too shabby! :D

glad to hear you got the job :D now don't let this job interfere with ranchers. you'll have to get one of those fancy cell phones with internet so you can stay up-to-date.
good luck :!:

Happy to hear the good news about the job. What will you be doing?

And the best part about the fence, is THAT SECTION IS DONE!!
We had rocks in W. Montana and my father-in-law asked the
previous owner of that ranch, "Just how far down do these rocks go?"
The man replied, "Plumb ta hell."
