Well your pictures proves it does rain, unfortunately not here.
good luck
PS Becareful around that turtle,if he latches on to you,old timers say he wont turn loose till it thunders, damn thing would die of old age waitin for thunder around here.

We also have gophers in Florida and guess what If you buy a piece of property to build a house you have to relocate the Gophers. There is people that have a business of catching these critters and moving them for a small fee. They should call the Gopher Cowboys I guess.

After 2 weeks of being gone,,things sure look good around here...so green and still water standing..although I have noticed the crop of mosquitos is a healthy crop! Glad to see things look good up your way too...

Soapweed you should go through your numerous photos and submit a windmill photo in the contest at windmill days next weekend. You've got to have one or two that are as beautiful as the flag one only staring a windmill.

that snapper sure would be good in a gumbo or a sauce picaunt

I don't think they eat turtles in Nebraska. I think they are the state reptile or something. :D

Or we think it is just gross!

Fixed right....they're good!

Supposed to have 7 different types of meat in them, ie. some that tastes like chicken....some pork....some beef, etc.

I guess it's just a Southern ' thang'!!!

Are you saying that since some parts of the turtle taste like beef, I actually could be buying turtle when I go to the meat case, even though I ask for rib eye? :???:

That's the story I've always been told.

I think the reason behind it is that turtle meat on diff parts of the turtle tends to be a bit darker...other parts a bit lighter. You can see the diff. colors of the meat when you clean a turtle!

I've had turtle soup/stew/gumbo all my life....and from being just plain ol' good ( if fixed right)...it doesn't taste like anything else ' cept turtle!
