I just got an email from Faster Horses. She said that while vacationing in San Sebastian Spain her family got mugged in a park outside of their hotel. The email said they need money to get home.

So, do we pass the hat or just leave her and Mr. FH over there in Spain? Quite the conundrum for sure.

And yes, I really did just get an email saying this.

So, tell me, what did you do when this happened to you?

I'm contacting yahoo, because when I finally could get into
my email account, there was nothing there except 7 new emails.
No contact list, no folders, no old emails, NOTHING. I need those
folders......!!!

HELP, anyone!!!!!!!!!!
 
I got one of those from FH. I figured if FH was really in trouble she would call. Good thing I never sent the cash.

I got a call this morning from an old classmate who had heard
from another classmate that lives in the south about this scam.
She went to Western Union to wire $4000 (UNBELIVEABLE, HUH?)
and Western Union wouldn't do it. Said that was too much money
to wire out of the country. I am so glad Western Union took that
stand. I really couldn't imagine anyone falling for this, but it
must work or they wouldn't still be doing it. If I find out that anyone
sent money, I'll feel terrible.

I cannot contact everyone to let them know as my contact list
is gone. We did get a phone call from a friend in Alaska last night--
wondering about it...
gee, we are hearing from people that we haven't talked to in months...
 
LOL I haven't checked my email to see if I got anything from you. But I was the recipient of a PM on Facebook from Tibbs. That was too wierd. Sounds like the same outfit....only they are working from Spain now.

Glad you didn't get mugged lol

Oh, I'm sure you got it. Yes, that deal with Tibbs was scary and then
funny when we found out what all happened. Glad it wasn't true then,
either. Tibbs hadn't checked his emails and he didn't even know
what was going on. That, was funny!

Faster, I hope your mugging wasn't near as brutal as my flogging i received in London..apparently I was molested quite proper and left for the rats....but on a serious note, unfortunately I think your screwed like a sloth in a foot race when it comes to your account. Facebook was a total waste of my time as they refused to help me obtain control of my account again, and the same for my hotmail account. That entire incident totally turned me off of facebook and I have not made another account since their total refusal to help me, and so I really hope those involved contract some sort of VD. Hotmail was equally as helpful to assist me in getting my account back, and I lost numerous pictures, emails, contacts, addresses, etc..that I had accumulated since I was in college. It was a total destruction of my little cyber world and to think some sniveling little snot nosed pre-pubescent low life scum was behind it only gives me that much more gas! And the worst part about it is that THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO!!!!! Even if this was reported, authorities do not even TRY to catch these people or stop them. All you can do is heed the warnings about having a significantly unique password to help stave off any future hacks.

I, too, lost everything. Contact list, all emails, and all folders
which held some important things that can't be redone. I'm pretty
bummed about the whole thing.

I didn't realize this had anything to do with Facebook. Do you think
they use your Facebook account somehow to hack into your emails?
If so, I'll sure delete my facebook account. I don't use it much anyhow.

Just make sure your security settings are the highest on FB . Don't play games or answer those silly polls/questions. Also do not list anything private such as cell # ,email address etc. unless you have a business page . Make sure you are on the secure pages only and you should be alright . Maybe .. :wink:

I don't know how your yahoo account got hacked ,but it is not limited to just yahoo. Very sorry you and tibbs have had to go through all of this . :(
 
This morning I have received a scam email claiming that a friend has been mugged in a park in San Sebastian. This scam has been going the rounds for years now. My friends hotmail account has obviously been hacked. I have phoned and left a message on her answering service so I hope she'll be able to contact others on her address book to alert them!
 
Too bad those doing this don't put their talent to use doing something
positive.

I did contact the local law and they said they can't do anything. :roll:
Yahoo wouldn't do anything, so Tibbs knew what he was talking about.
YEAAAAA!! Tibbs.

One thing I did discover--and I don't know if I can find it again, but
somewhere in my computer, I found where my email accounts were listed; the first was my yahoo address; the second was this wierd name starting with
an 'x' and then third on the list was my other email account that I don't
use much. How strange is that? I'll try to find that name and email address, I wrote it down, and maybe that will help Deidre and her friend.

One other thing--I got a call from a credit card company that I never
use that credit card, someone tried to purchase $4800 worth of golfing
equipment in Florida!!!!!!!! And I can assure you that was NOT Mr.
FH! Luckily the card was denied and they called me to verify.

I also have purchased LifeLock.........you can't be too careful.......
 
I get scammed every week I send my grand daughter 2 t o3 dollar bills in a card she sys I got mail... i send her anamial cards or comptuer cards I sent her a camera for her birthday. now I get a lot of them email... so great tto see them.....
