Finally felt like Spring today !

First day in a month that I actually thought maybe we would see spring... Temp only got to 33-- but warm sun and no wind felt like 70's to me and the new calves...

New one that came this morning- the "minority" looking one ....

Calves enjoying some bare ground. I love the little heads and calving ease builds on these Juanada Rito sired calves... When the DNA genetic profile increased his CED EPD to + 10 I think they were right....

Sure glad I had lots of straw this year- saved on hay and sure helped with this nasty calving weather..

cattle look darn good OT. it was a nice day here too, mid 40s i think. next 10 days look to be spring like aswell. almost wish i was calvin', almost.... :wink:

:lol: Yeah- my son was in Billings last week basking in the "Montana Banana Belts" 50-60 degree temps- and said that south of the Missouri there is no snow...But up here on the hi-line and especially in the Little Siberia of NE Montana we still have winter... Just around me most the snow is blown into drifts after the 50/60 mph winds- and if it isn't drifted up next to a windbreak its in a ditch barrow pit that are still full of snow.... Then you go 50 miles north (Opheim/Scobey country) and it looks like you are in Anarctica... :wink: Some of the folks up there that start calving April 1 are having to bring in snowblowers to clear their corrals and lots so the can calve out their heifers/cows...
