Fire fighting rigs

We have a town every 7 to 10 miles in every direction all have fire departments with tanker trucks and large pump trucks and grass rigs. They also have a first responder medical unit in each town. Then we have the DNR who have all kinds of fire equipment. Here where it's populated we don't have the worries like the rest of you folks.

Here is one of ours. The other one is on a trailer that can be pulled behind whatever pickup is free.

This two hundred gallon tank is on a 1990 F-250 Ford pickup. A 5.5 hp Honda engine powers the sprayer, and it pumps ten gallon per minute. We try to haul along a gas-powered sump pump to refill out of water tanks.

WE have a water bomber base two miles from the door-and close enough the town trucks could come out. About the only way to fight brush fieres is with a cat or a plane. I'm pretty chicken about fire don't even allow a burn barrrel around.

We bought a 750 gallon pumper truck on ebay last year.

Spend some months fixing it up. It is sitting full of water and ready to run right now. Cost us about $3,000.

It sets on a 2 ton Chevrolet truck and came out of a Texas fire department.

We're like Denny.. One of our places a mile and a half from town, and my home place is 5 miles from town.. I'm a volunteer fireman in town by my dads place as it is also the town I work in... We have two tanker trucks, one large pump truck and one attack rig(for grass fires).. And so far already this year we have been out to quite a few grass fires and few hay fires.. And one baler fire which happend on the 4th, We were lucky enough to save the tractor but the baler didnt do so well..The deparment I'm on is pretty short handed sometimes with most of the firemen being farmers or working in towns 20 miles away.. Quite a few tractors showed up at the baler fire as some of us were hilling beans..

We've got a 250 gallon plastic tank sprayer slide in unit set up with walk along hoses- fill it with water when it starts getting dry and have it setting up on blocks at an angle so whatever pickup someone is in can just pull up and slide the whole unit in... May get some use this year with the good spring growth and now the hot blistering dry heat.....
