Milk chocolate is not as toxic to dogs as baking chocolate, or the dark chocolate. I had a schnauzer that LOVED chocolate. Try as we may she would seek it out. (ya know, kids with candy, not thinkin where they put it) One year she ate a whole bag of hershey kisses at Christmas time. Then not 2 days later, she ate a whole box of chocolate covered cherries.
On another occasion she demolished a birthday cake that was left on the kitchen table. After the first time or two trips to the vet for the same reason, and treatment, he finally told me....Instead of bringin her in and havin to pay him to do it, 10 cc's of poroxide down the hatch, in about 10 minutes or less the problem is taken care of. Didn't take me long to learn to absolutely hate that dog. Ended up givin her away to an older lady who'd lost her older schnauzer. The lady said she very rarely had any chocolate in the house. She still has her, and thinks she's the greatest thing in the world.......glad things worked out....and I no longer hafta worry about her eatin my chocolate.
