Talked to the cattle buyer today. He was saying that someone had Canadian cattle in their lot and were going to sell them. But the plant seen they were 5 days over 30 months. They couldn't slaughter them so he didn't know what the seller was going to do with the cattle. That could be a big outch.

Wondering if they had birth records or were going to use dentition? Dentition isn't that accurate as early maturing hfrs. can pop teeth at 24 months. If they had the birth records someone couldn't count very well .

Feeder,

That could be a big ouch! You would think if the feedlot knew they were getting close to the 30 month line that they would want to get them killed before they hit that age.

They were going by the paper work and I think tags. I think someone goofed up and didn't get them sold in time.

really in all honesty, does anyone think 5 days really makes a difference when they are that close to 30 months. Some of the best beef ever eaten has come from animals over 30 months of age. Long fed yearlings ... make delicious tender beef.
