We I'm new here and yall might run me off! There's lots of cattle operations in fla. Some real big ones to. I've gone a defferent route from most. I raise bulldogin and ropein stock from the origional fla cattle known as cracker cattle. Were in the worst winter in years but we don't have to deal with snow and blizards like most of yall. I'm open for questions if any of yall are interested in askin.
 
Welcome...hope ya enjoy it here and even learn a thing or two...like I have learned many things...I read a history article on Cracker horses awhile back, pretty interesting...Post pictures if ya got any to share!
 
I know there used to be a lot of big Dairy farms down there. Back in the early 90's I would haul fresh heifers down to FLA. and then baby calves back north. Just to be hauled back down there when they became fresh. I own a house near Winterhaven, FLA. that my mother lived in before she passed. My sister lives there now but, I haven't been there in 8-9 years.
 
welcome aboard. Interested to hear about your place. There are some huge outfits and lots of cow ground in FLA. Deseret has a big outfit down there with a good young manager.

Williston is in a real pretty part of the state, lots of rolling hills, oaks and small lakes and rivers.

I'm down the road from you about 5 hours or so, near Naples.

The Spaniards brought Corientes here way back, I've got a number of them sprinkled in with my bunch. Is that what you're calling rodeo types?

Yall all forgive me for makin a ignert fool out of my self. Thanks for the warm welcome. Williston has a lot of horse farms, bein so close to ocala. Board fences everywhere. There's still lots of cattle but only a few dairys now. That buyout took the big ones. South fla still has some though. Around okeechobee. But a lot of them are gone. Most of the big cattle ranches are intact but when land was sellin high, a lot of them sold out and moved to other states like missisipi, texas or oklahoma. Some even took there cattle. I do have a small string of cracker horses. There gated and can sure cover some country real smooth and they will watch a cow.

I thought I knew a bit about every horse walkin',
but I never heard of Cracker horses. Please tell us more and post
some pictures if you don't mind. If you need help posting them, just
ask, there are plenty of kind folks here who will help you.

We're pretty much like one big happy family here, with a grumpy
one now and then, but don't let that run you off. Mostly we have a lot of fun and learn a bunch.
 
If u google florida cracker horses, you'll get a lot of history on them. In the regestery, it even shows one coon rackin. The old boy ridein it sets up real tall and sporty lookin. He's a nice man, but no cracker. I got 3 mares and a almost 2 year old geldin. We'll start ridein him as a 3 year old. They are small and develop slower. The bronson line are the nicer lookin ones there line little quarter horses. The ayers line are more what they looked like in pictures from the 20's. I got a old bronson brood mare and 2 ayers/bronson mares I ride. Even though there small, there tough, them bein gated, you can sure cover some country quick and smooth. They will flat out walk a quarter horse. I'm not sayin there as fast but there plenty quick. I got one that loves a cow and is startin to cut.there not real perty, kind of bad headed and narow chested. But they stand good and have plenty of heart. We rope off them some, but they lack size to do a lot. We got some quarter horses and some good bred paints. doc bar and san peppy. I'll try and send some pics.
