These were pictures taken about an hour ago after another heavy thunderstorm went through here. Grass is really looking green now. We are well over the 4 inch mark for rain.

Nope OT- doesnt seem to happen that way. Everything is so green after all of that rain. Think I should be bottleing up some of that water Im sure some of our friends in Nebraska would like to have it.

Yeah it looks like it is still hot and dry down there today...Talked to a father of a custom cutter couple days ago- he says the kid is combining in Kansas-- fields that ran 45-50 bushel or better last year are running 15-- they didn't even cut in Texas or Oklahoma this year....

Little moisture sure brightens up an outlook-- Sure made for a lazy day for me...Sun was out for a little while- but now I just heard thunder rumbling again.... :)

Yeah the rain sure brightens spirits up. :) Spent most of the day in the house napping after we did chores this morning. Its really damn dark to the west right now and the forecast says we have more severe thunderstorms movin g up from the dakotas this evening. With wheat that poor down there maybe it will be worth something this fall.

Looks like by the radar we have some more heading our way.... :P

M_R; I'm beginnin to think that maybe you should be growing rice in your corner of the world.............you've probably run off more water than the rest of us have even seen in decades!!!!

Im beginning to think that rice would be a good option for this area. If we get much more rain we wont even try to mud anymore crop in as we did last year and it was a waste of time, it froze and didnt yield enough to cover the seed costs.

Well that little thunderstorm just got over-- dropped another 1/4 of an inch...Too bad a guy can't spread these out until you need them- but it sure is nice to know the pump is primed.......

It would be nice to spread these rains out. Last year we had all that rain in late may and June then in July and August it dried up and didnt want to rain.... :?

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnn! Nice rain!! Wish we got more than 1/2 inch, wish the wind would stop blowin' wish for much more BUT we are really grateful for what we got.

Thank you, Lord.

We had a "severe thunderstorm" and tornado warning, a big wind, the temperature dropped about twenty degrees, and any whiff of rain has blown on to the northeast. It's a cold windy dry dusty gripey  night. But I'm thankful to be in the house with a roof over our heads. :-) My two boys are camping tonight, down along the river, while going on a canoe trip. :???: :?

Someday it will rain again, and any time would be just fine.

Here is hoping you get rain soon Soapweed... How is the grass holding out down there?

Better than you would think, with no rain for a month. We had five inches of moisture to start off the spring, and a month ago, we were off to one of the best season starts ever. Then it quit raining, and conditions have pretty much fizzled and fell by the wayside. The last couple weeks have been abnormally hot and dry for this time of year. There is still subsoil moisture, and digging isn't too bad as far as fencing goes, but it is getting powerful dry on top. The grass is in a holding pattern, and will soon start to deteriorate.

Well we have missed the rain again. I have heard reports of 3 and 5 inch rains within 40 t0 50 miles but all we got was a tenth night before last. The rains have sure been spotty. the grass needs a drink real bad.

Oh, BMR, that really sucks. Been there, so I fully sympathize with you.

I hope you still will get some. I think there is a chance all week.
Hopefully it will be YOUR turn.

We haven't had anything like 3 inches, but last Monday night
we got 6 or 7 tenths and last night we got half an inch.
It is good and muddy out there this morning. Monday it was hot,
like 90 degrees; and then we had horrible wind on Tuesday.
The rest of the week wasn't so bad and now it is cool.
We still think we will get a hay crop, but some of it is heading out.

Glad to hear someone is getting some moisture. FWIW I don't think you can ever get too much. The destocking in this area is starting and will continue until some moisture is received. This is normally a good spring wheat area and I doubt we will need to combine any this year.
