We had gone to feed the bulls, and just had to look for buttercups while we were there! We always try to be the first of the neighbors to find one. It was one of the neighbors bdays on monday so I took her and our adopted mom each a buttercup :)

Here are the bulls coming to feed, they were quite scattered

This is why we don't get much winter grazing here...the grass doesn't hold up well to 2 feet of snow laying on it :?

This was my first attempt at bringing the photos from facebook to here, it's pretty darn easy! I couldn't get photobucket to open yesterday :???:

Except now I can't get the stupid image boxes to go around the second picture??????

Thanks. I look forward to seeing more of your country.
I'm sure there are buttercups around here somewhere, just have to dig a little deeper :(

Buttercups............swear word to one of our neighbours at our north ranch. He had a real wreck last spring losing 7 cows & a calf. We looked hard for poison plants, bad water etc. as the post mortems pointed towards poisoning. Vet finally found a suspicious plant & was able to confirm with the internet........celery-leaf buttercup; was growing in drown out spots from heavy winter melts. Cows shouldn't eat it as it is very bitter & causes mouth blistering but must be addictive as those cows worked hard to get at it. Lots of fresh forage available too so it wasn't hunger. Mostly straight Red cows that died.....vet said some breeds have different grazing habits........just another hazard to watch out for!
