See my lack of management I don't wean my foals-that's Shakes yearling standing beside her and her new foal. Horses do a pretty good job of being horses if you just let them be.

Nice looking colts. I thought I was one of a short list who did not wean foals. Let the mare tell you when it's time to wean. Works great!

I think so-they learn alot about being a horse at momma's side. I'm a total heretic and run my horses and cows in one bunch lol.

You might not want to trade for any mules, because you'd have to run them separately from cattle. The john mules kill baby calves, and the molly mules "adopt" them away from their real bovine mothers. The mollies don't hurt the calves, but they won't let them suck the cows. If not detected fairly soon, the baby calf consequently starves to death.

The hinny is a male and doesn't seem to bother them much-I don't have to run them with them I just chose too-camping horses in one pasture is hard on grass so they just rotate with the cows. The studs run the coyotes off pretty well.
