When bow hunting in an ice storm use a detachable quiver and keep it inside your vest till you need an arrow.
The slightest amount of ice build up will effect the fly of an otherwise perfectly placed arrow.

It was just a doe I missed but I was tasting the backstrap before I shot.

OH, one more thing. Them fancy expandable tips...freeze shut. When they work they work ok, but when they don't work you might as well have a quiver full of field tips.

Ouch... Yeah... I have come to the conclusin while bowhunting that the old Keep it Simple Stupid advice makes a lot of sense. IF I can ever get my back fixed to the point that it feels "right" again I think I will just pic up a stick and string and have some fun that way.. Guy nearby here who makes them but will also teach you to make them, including arrows and flint or obsidian heads...

Cert try Montec G5's they are the most fail safe arrowhead I've ever seen used-brutally strong-one of the few that can punch through both shoulders of a blackbear. I feel your pain though on missing the doe-been there done that. As for expandables we've had some bad experiences with them so doubt we'll go back to using them.

I use G5's or Stingers from Magnus.. The Stingers are deadly sharp out of the box and hold up real good.. Not to mention a nice, simple two blade designt (Wel 4 if you coun't the bleaders)... But I have seen some lovely holes made from Montecs that are just... wow..

Lot of good heads out there that are easy to tune.. I see almost no need for expandables unless you have a 30 inch draw and are shooting at plus 300 fps with your set up. I prefer the heavier arrow and an easier draw myelf...
