For you Jason

Well John was a pretty good advertisement for Mormon Bishops then. He was the one who first told me about Wayne Stevenson-Doug was supposed to meet at John's sale and he never showed up because of what happened to his Dad that night. At that time everybody thought he'd just been kidnapped- I remember John saying 'Who in their right mind would kidnap an old rancher'.

I picked my choice also...............but everyone is mum. Someone should put these bull up in a Poll and see what happens

TTB, tell us more about Kent.
Is he still carrying on the purebred business?

I think our daughter high-school rodeoed with him, so he must
be about 44 years old now. I always liked him too.

To the best of my knowledge Kent is still in the registered Red Angus business. Lazy Ace and I visited about him at lunch today, and don't recall seeing him since the 50th Annual Red Angus Convention in Denton in 2004. He does have ads occasionally in the Red Angus Magazine. I'm at the ND Stockmen's Convention now, but when I get home I'll try and find one, scan it in and PM it to you. After that, I'm not sure I know much else about his program. I'll ask around here and see if anyone knows about his program.

I'd say Kent's in his early 40's. John was named one of the 50 most influential people in the Red Angus breed in 2004, and my observation is he is probably one of the most quoted and admired Presidents of the Association.

Cheers---

Really? John was chosen as one of the most influencial people in the Red Angus breed in 2004? Thanks for sharing that. I worked with him for years. He stopped in once in W. Montana to meet me and we had a great visit.

I worked for a big publication and had met with some of the upper
management from in state and out of state. Something came up that they had page 3 available at the last minute. It is of course, a premium spot and it was decided that they would run Johns ad there, unbeknownst to him. I said it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. They all chimed in, in total
agreement. Neat that you can be that well thought of by everyone.

When did he pass away, do you know?

I drove by the Rose Ranch near Snowville about a year and a half ago. It is in a neat location. Too much irrigation for me though. I remember an article about it in Western Horseman that mentioned this Kent managaing it. The owner is the same guy that owns the BB team in Salt Lake if I remember correctly. The ranch is not far off the edge of the Great Salt Lake. Or far from Idaho either.
