While mowin pasture. I was in a place that hasn't been mowed in a long long time. Filled with briars and small bushes...a few persimmon trees..and then this tree....that had rather large yellowish green balls on it...lil bigger'n a golf ball. So I pulled one....to take to FIL to see if he knew what it was. Sure nuff he did. He didn't now the exact name of it...but he told me it was a wild citrus tree. Never heard or seen such before. So I cut this thang open. Had a bazillion seeds...but yeap...it's citrus alright. And tasted similar to an orange...but not as sweet...and the juice was really really thick. edited to add: FIL said it would peel the hide right off yer lips cuz it'd be so sour. But it didn't...and it wasn't sour. Just wasn't sweet.

Well at first he said a wild lime. But after cuttin it in half....and tastin of it. It tastes like an orange. So I started researchin. These type orange trees were the basis for all the orange groves in California. They used them to graft the other type oranges onto because of their cold hardiness. Ya know he mentioned thorns too....but when I picked it....I didn't see any thorns...but then again I wasn't lookin for thorns. Actually I thought it might have been a Black Walnut at first....till I got it picked and felt how it gave when ya squeeze it.

I figured their would be laws against selling a refrigerator to a married man without the wife along to have a say........

Congrats on the new fridge Lilly!

I don't think that fruit is a trifoliate orange as they are described as inedible. Mike might be right in calling it a wild lemon or maybe it's some kind of a hybrid of a wild lemon. Only way to tell is to peel it and several others, place in the blender with about 6 oz of Patron, add a little sugar, orange marmalade, ice, water and triple sec. Blend it and taste it several times.

Lilly, stay away from those mushrooms will ya?

I dunno....haha it might take a washtub full to get a blender full of juice. Or more. When I squeezed....weren't much juice came out...and what did was really thick.

I don't do mushrooms much...and specially not ones I find in the pasture LOL

Is it the same as this? Key lime i think
Looks identical, but the fruit on lilly's tree is not much more than seed pod with a hard rind over them. I don't think you could get enough juice off the whole tree to make a pie.
