You hit the nail on the head. They are not "the norm" but they can be found, and theres some good ones out there. This foundation blood is good blood to have-- easy to get along with and pretty to look at.
 
Do you have a local USEA group there? Schooling shows, horse trials? We have the CTEA at San Antonio and the Third Coasters at Austin but the schooling schows are few and far between and trials are non-existant. Jim Wofford was here about three months ago and let's just say he wasn't overwhelmed by the crowd.Z
 
I'm not aware of a local group. I show in Minn., IA. and WI. They are the closest to me ( within 500 miles) I might only get to one or two shows a year. But I do train a lot at home. I also will be showing more local open shows as next year once my other big guy is broke I need a place to show him the ropes. I know all to well about the overwhelmed Everytime we have anyone whos an english rider doing a clinic in the area they are always just amazed at the turn out they get here in cowhorse country. BTW thank you for the comp. on the gray he is one of my fav horses I have ever owned. His TB lines go back to some the greats like northern dancer, man o war, alidar. The breeder I got him from breeds very very nice TB's and Warmbloods. I'm sure I'll be going back soon they have a chestnut that caught my eye.
 
Back in the days when they called combined training I used to tell people I had the only true combined training horse. A 15.2hh QH that was originally trained by Mike Huber but was always had to much attitude for his owners. I bought him and two weeks later won money on him team penning and the weekend after that took a second at training level at a local schooling show. I figured out that I worked cows on him the day before the show he was "letter perfect" at the show.Z
 
I'm a believer of an ALL around horse. I don't care much for a horse that can only do one thing even if it is the best in the world at it. I have big dreams for my next replacment horse. He will have to do it all now that I have gone back to riding both western and english.
