There seems to be several of these kind of deals offered out there. While I think it is a real stetch to promise to furnish enough electricity for your home, it still might be worth the $50, if this sort of thing interests you.
Looks to me like it is mostly how to hook up a series of solar calls. It would not be to hard to built a small wind powered generator with an auto altenater. Back in the 1930's lots of people built them with auto generators. There was even a company in Sioux City that sold ready made propellers, but most people made them from a 2X6. You could charge six volts batteries with these and run a radio, even two or three 25 watt bulbs. That was better then the kerosene lamp.
There was the Lejay manufacturing Co. that sold a booklet that showed how to make electrical motors and electric drills, using a pre 1930 Dodge generator. They had a kit to build an electric fencer, it used the viborater coil from a model T. My Dad bought one of these kits, I think from a hardware store for such a fencer. It replaced the viberator points with a different contact point then used a test tube with a marble in it set on an incline to activate it.
The fellow who was janiter at the high school gave me a Lejay manual
that showed how to build a chest type freezer. You had to buy the compressor though. This was about 1945.l
