Well we finally got down here to Farmington on Friday-the rodeo started last night-our first taste of rodeoing in a sandstorm-it was different to say the least. We had a great trip down-going over the pass from Ouray Col. to Durango is definately an experience. we stopped at the Gunfighter Museum in Craig Col.-I'd reccommend that stop to anybody. The best way to desribe the high school finals is an anthill that you just stepped in-there are people, horses and golf carts everywhere. ttyl's.

Well glad you all had a safe trip down. Now tell Ty and his buddies, that we are pullin for em. And we are lookin forward to seein pictures.

LOL at rodeo in a Sandstorm. Our trip home to west Texas recently, we were tellin the kids about the sand storms. I found one picture of one in a pamplet that I picked up at the Sandhills State Park. They just couldn't believe sand will roll in like a thunderstorm out there. Somethin I've experienced way more times that I care to recall, and somethin they'll prolly never experience. Don't miss them at all. Sand in yer eyes, mouth, food, your drink, your bed....it's everywhere when one of them rolls thru.

:) Sounds like an expierence Ty and Austin will never forget{you either} Good luck to those boys, and keep the updates coming....greg&Mairi

Make sure you keep your hat on, and hunt shade when ever you can. That sand blowing might just help with your complexion. Keep smiling and stay alert. There might be questions when you get back.

Hey NR,

Welcome to New Mexico, tell your boys good luck and if they dont like the weather just give it about 15 minutes and it will change again.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the views as you drove in, there are some very pretty places in that part of the world.

Ty drew good for his first bareback horse-he was second in todays perf and is sitting third in the average-two points out of first. The boys had small bore and trap practice today-they'd never been on a trap range before but Ty broke 20/25. There was an older fellow Don Sipes and he was just great with the kids-a young girl from the U'S Jr. Olympic team was helping too. Ty gets his first saddle bronc tomorrow night so he's looking forward to that. The people here are just first class I'm sure glad we made the trip.

I think the boys are enjoying the sights of the finals and aren't noticing the heat at all. Ty got bucked off his bronc last night-he had a bit too much rein to handle him. Austin and him placed 9th in the small bore rifle deal-they were shooting new Henry lever actions-some kids had their own target .22's so they did ok. Ty is up in broncs again thursday night-I guess you can watch it on highspeed internet. Sure meeting alot of people from all over the place. Saw about the worst bareback hangup ever last night-the poor guy was butt naked and mooning all three grandstands-I think other than his pride he'll be ok. One guy broke his femur broke his femur pretty bad on Monday but they said he's doing well all things considered.

Sorry I missed your call Hanta Yo-Ty and Austin placed 16th in trap shooting yesterday-not bad considering they'd never seen a trap range till their practice round on Tuesday. The timed event kids are really snake bit-one team was 6.5 and took a barrier and the other was 5.6 but got flagged out for an illegal head catch that time would be leading the rodeo. Ty gets anopther saddle bronc this A'M so hopefully he can draw good enough to get to the short go on one.

Bit of controversy today-Ty had to really make a ride to make it to the short go on one in saddle bronc-he drew a good horse and really spur bathed him but he broke a stirrup. The back judge said he made the whistle before it happened but the arena judge flagged him out. It sure looks like he did on the video but I guess that's rodeo. He's on a mission now to do good in bareback. Ty Patten from Alberta made a good bull ride today and is leading the average.

Too bad about the stirrup,I know Ty can do well in bares though. :) Hi and Good luck to Ty and Austin....greg & Mairi

Yeah that's A.J in team roping. They had some penalty troubles that knocked them out of the short go. Ty put it on one tonight and is tenth in the bareback average with one perf. left to go. The top 20 make it through so he's sitting pretty good. The judging is interesting lol. A bull rider from Louisianna got hurt pretty bad today-I sure hope he's going to be ok but it doesn't look good. I've seen about enough bareback and bull wrecks to do me for a longgg while. The college fair was today and it looks pretty good as far as scholarships go.

Yeah that is A.J in the teram roping-they had some penalty troubles and aren't going to short go. Ty stuck it on one tonite and is sitting tenth in the average with one perf to go so he should make it to the short go-the top 20 do. Everybody shopuld say a prayer for a bull rider from Loiusianna-he got hurt real bad today-could be paralyzed. I've seen enough bull and bronc wrecks to do me for awhile this week. College fair was today and it looks pretty good as far as scholarships go. Miles City Commmunity College recruited some of our seniors today.
