With a good windmill, a small tank, and a bit of a breeze, there is not much ice to chop.

Cold enough to see their breath

The last 2 days the tractors have had troubles,,feeding is late,,,cows are grumpy,,,tanks are froze,,,caking is not fun,,,gates are tighter,,,,my dogs are shivering,,,my fingers get cold taking pictures...(I can relate soapweed..lol),,,wearing 4 layers of coveralls & coats is alot to pack around,,,,other than that..life is good! Oh ya...ranching is sooooo romantic in December...lol

Freezing before it hits the tank...brrrr

It's so fuuny to me when i get on in the morning, and see i have all the same problems as you folks on a much more minute scale of course only have a few head and some ponies. But everything here is frozen,my round cattle tank is trying to freeze solid, been doing all i can to not let that happen.Missed moving the horses closer by one day,so i have to "Chinese two step" across the arena to feed and water them, tractor started the other day,but no hydralics, changed the filter and added fluid, now won't start  Guess i'll charge the battery and plug er' in for the day see if that works :???: It better, snows startin to pile up around here, luckily i can use the snowmobile and sled to get things fed.At least most of you don't have to deal with the snow accumulation we do.Drove the kids to school yesterday in white out conditions,it was pretty sketchy to say the least, won't be missin' the school bus again, that's for sure  Wanted to haul a few culls to town, but my steep driveway is a sheet of ice now so i don't want to risk jackknifing the outfit over the side,so i'll wait till the sides are four feet high on both sides, and shoot down the sucker like the"Jamaican Bob Sled team" all the way to the auction yard. :P  .

Ha! Now that's funny! And I'm sure you're tellin' the truth about your scheme. Hope you get things fixed up and operable!

Wanna come to Texas? LOL I don't know how ya do it Jassy...honestly I don't.

Nice pictures. It was -28 F here yesterday. Once the wind went down it didn't seem to bother the cows much. I wasn't quite as lucky with the ice on the tanks, had 2 propane heaters go out and the tanks had 4 to 6" of ice on them. I've got to get the picture posting thing figured out so I can post some from here.
