KSDK)KSDK, MO Truckers across the country plan to turn off their trucks on April 1 in an effort to show how much of an impact they have on the economy and to put pressure on the government and big business to make changes.

For many independent haulers, the price of fuel, along with the taxes included in the price, are too much to bear.

Some shell out hundreds of dollars every time they go to the pump.

The price of diesel was over $4.00 per gallon in Troy, Ill. Friday morning.

The average big rig only gets about six miles a gallon and many trucks are forced to make cross-country trips, which is about 3,000 miles each way.

In the last three years alone, drivers NewsChannel 5 spoke with, said they've seen the price of diesel triple at the pumps. Drivers said they pay between $3.94 and $4.29 for a gallon of diesel depending on where they are in the country.

Many drivers said they know independent drivers who are being forced out because of the high price for diesel.

Maybe the whole country needs to shut the engines off on everything ??

My wife's uncle manages a trucking company out of Memphis. Their daily fuel bill is around $80,000.00!!!! DAILY!!!! 400+ trucks.

If you are upset about fuel cost, remember that the so-called solutions that have been enacted are what the Democrats have been wanting.
How well is it working for you??????

What's the price of farm diesel?

Here we have farm diesel that is dyed, and they cut a bit of tax off. Not much though, because the last time I opened a bill it was 92 cents a litre, which works out to about $3.68 a U.S. gallon, give or take a couple of ounces.

I sure wouldn't want to be paying the fuel bill on a big grain farm!

Gonna hire the brother-in-law with his onepass airseeder again this year. That helps a bit,now to figure out ways to save a bit when putting up hay.

I wonder how that will go over with the public???

TV has been showing them slowing and snarling traffic, which I heard on late night radio last night was one goal of some of the truckers..."we are going to cause some traffic slow-downs", as one said.
