In case you didn't notice-- last night was the prettiest full moon I've seen in a long time--so if you get too filled up with Christmas Eve goodies you may want to go out and take a little walk down the lane/across the prairie tonite....

Not sure if we'll see much of it tonite-or even want to go walking tonite-- as that darn Mrs. Greg is sending us nasty type weather out of Alberta again--rain/snow/snain-- and possibly 40 mph winds with some nasty wind chills... :(

I believe that it is because Mars is very close to earth right now. The brightest star in the sky tonight is Mars. Thank you to Mrs. Greg for clearing out the bad weather, it has been above freezing here for several days now.

Merry Christmas,

per

Yeah...notice that that little reddish star you see under the moon IS mars.

They will eclipse each other, but I think only those in Alaska will be able to see it.

We also noticed the full moon last night here in Nebraska. We have 4 or 5 inches of snow still on the ground so it was really bright. My husband and I were remembering New Years Eve 1990 when there was a "blue" moon. That one was also a bright one. My husband's comment at the time was that it would be a good night to check heavy cows as you could see without any lights. I happen to remember the date as it was the New Years eve before we were married. Merry Christmas everyone! :-)

OT,we're at +2 right now its beautiful out,too sticky for our sliegh ride tonight though I'm thinking...it will have to be a nice walk when the grandson arrives tonight.Looks like we both have new grandbabies to look forward to in 08,pretty blessed aren't we. :)

Actually today turned out better than I thought--we got a little rain early and it was like a skating rink-- but then warmed up and sun came out and melted everything off...Temp got to 42....And the snow went south of us :D

Now its clouding up again-- and the wind is picking up...But I got the prime rib in cooking- and the smell is starting to drift thru the house, so I probably won't be going out for awhile anyway....20 lbs so I hope its done by 4PM (its probably done enough for me right now  )...

Boy I'll tell you Mrs. Greg-- Grandbabies make a lot of Christmas--grandbabies on the way-- new Son In Laws- new inlaws-- House was packed...But a good time had by all- and even a few ribs left over to chew on today--altho that poor starving son of mine (could play for the Green Bay Packers) didn't think we'd have enough food for today too-- so he bought a ham

With one SIL comes a built in family- 3 year old daughter from his previous marriage that fell apart during his 18 months in Iraq....She and her year old cousin reminded us of all the excitement you can have on Christmas eve (they did all the unwrapping for everyone    )- now that the other grandkids are getting older...The grandkids were the present passer outers- until they got to my present- that I barely could lift, that somehow Grandma had snuck into the house and hid behind the couch-- one of those new metal ranch signs- name and brand and all- that the whole family bought me...

Grandkids spent the night out here- and now I'm just waiting for them to wake up so they can check out Santa's visit....
