Just got back from 'Meet the Teacher' night at our 5/6 grade school. The kids had done up a powerpoint presentation then we all had to do a school wide scavenger hunt-basically we had to figure out which teachers were the answers to a bunch of questions. Pretty fun stuff-kind of funny-when I was in grade six the same teachers had been there for centuries it seemed lol.Somebody is doing something right school seems more fun than when I went and my kids are smarter than I ever was.

Naaawwwwww, we didn't have computers when we were in grade school/high school. I could go on and on. Although I'm older than you NR, I really think the computer age has caused our kids to be smarter (or make them seem to be). They can do so many things on the computer that we used to do by hand. I think that is why most of us ranchers have a hard time allowing a computer to compile data we put in and believe in the results.

My firm belief is if you want to do it computer, you should also know how to do it by hand. Just in case........

Ohh there's a couple guys on ranchers.net I'd dearly love to straighten out by hand instead of computer lol. Well the kids are pretty smart puters or not lol. I wonder what they will all end up doing-we had a football meeting at highschool tonight and one of the coaches said that kids in sports do better in school. Interesting you'd think it would be the other way but he says not. I know if they cut a class they sure pay for it in practice. First league game is Friday I sure hope I can make it -200 mile drive though.

Make the drive.A young up and comming star needs those long drive kind of stories about his dad comming to watch him play. For when he is being interviewed before the start of his first pro game on TSN. Drive safe and dream big :)

Ohh trust me I put on the miles travelling to watch kids-just with four kids-time, money and work sometimes don't all add up lol. I've got to haul him to a rodeo 200 miles away Saturday morning -I might be able to throw in with another parent and go.Hockey starts in less than a month that's major time if I coach again-September gets crazy as far as sports go here football, hockey and rodeo all run into each other. He's really lucky with his football team they have a great set of coaches-from what I see they've got a good balance between enthusiasm and discipline. Hanta Yo everything we do is 200 miles away-I guess that's 400 miles round trip lol. Our travel schedule in hockey is brutal lots of 1,000 miles wekends-it's neat to watch those kids manage themselves to get ready to play three games in 36 hours and travel that far. Just got some good news on girls hockey our friends daughter just won a silver medal with Canada playing in Czechoslovakia-she's a great girl came back from a real bad knee injury and kept playing-she was darned tough for the kids to compete against in 4H too.

Well I didn't make the game-Megan and I went fencing after school but Ty got the teams only touchdown-he's not real happy because they got beat though. Were off to his first highschool rodeo tomorrow-he made the KCRA finals in Saddle Bronc for weekend after next.

It is nice to see a father spend the time you do with your kids. You seem to really get involved,be it at home working along side them or out watching and cheering for them as they live their lives .I respect the effort (for lack of a better word) that you put in to your family. If all dad's spent even half the time with their kids that NR does, would not the world we live in be a happier place?

Sorry if i got sappy. It would be nice to hear about all the good fathers here on ranchers.I lost my father when i was 17 and he was an involved father too.I miss him dearly. So hearing the excitment from NR,just brought back memorries of having the one who loves you most, cheering in your corner.
