This is just north of Jackson Hole, 22 wolves in one pack about 2 miles from the Cabin and Alkali feed grounds in the Gros Ventre. Late January, 2010.

Great news, the WGFD won't have to feed elk this year, probably can't even find an elk in the Gros Ventre, they will be scattered everywhere alive and dead.

I wonder how many elk and moose a week it takes to keep this bunch going?

A pack of ten need about two moose a week to stay in shape.

that picture is somthing else. the most i have seen at once is about 5 and thats enough.i lost three 500 hundred pound calves in the fall of 2008.one dident get away he took two of us to load him . my neibor lost over a dozen yearlings to wolves . when they get a taste fer the good stuff look out . or when they are training the pups. the wolf i shot took 5 shots with a 270 before he went down. take grizzly bears anyday over wolves.

Our resident pack keeps around a dozen in it. Several are collared and tracked by these so called tree hugging wolf researchers. One each from Alberta and Montana. I have been searching for the frequency. It would be fun to track them on a laptop from a J3 cub with the door flopped down. :wink:

I had a bench with 3 pups clean up a 700# yearling every 2 days. All there was left was white bones. Not even anything for the flies. Very scary till you can get them to move on to someone else. We got all the pups,as they are pretty stupid and will stand and look at you.
Spring pups weighed 50# in mid July.

I stayed home as my mineral delivery was not in WL yet. Did you see the breds sell?

no i stayed home,dad &i finished rounding up snow to make a wall for calving time foot chases.definately a lack of snow probably 50%of normal or less
