Been going to the auction to much!

The weather man says while we have bare ground now by Wednesday night we should have 8" to 10" of snow and hard blowing winds.

I recently bought two trucks from Indiana DOT with blades so I got them all checked out today.

Backed one in at the gravel pit and one at the south farm just in case.

They are twins, both single axle trucks - - - I think I will take the bed off one of them and make it into a service truck, cheaper than rebuilding the engine in the service truck.

Backed in and will set the thermostat at 45 degrees F if the snow starts other than that the heat will stay off. I just like to have the equipment warm if needed.
 
I'll try to get a picture of the grader with the V plow on in the next few days if we really get the snow they are talking about.

Looking good George, I'm a little envious. That little grader would need tire chains and a wing to go with that front blade around here these days though. Snow is getting nearly too deep and we still have 4 months of winter in front of us!

Any time - - - when you get as old as me and you just seem to collect you can have toys - - - you just need to try to keep them in good shape.

The trucks I just bought are 1996 models, the road grader is a 1985 - - - I think the newest piece of construction equipment is the Cat 277 skid steer and it is a 2005

That is like my hand guns - - - when the gun safe gets full you don't sell any you just buy another safe!

If you were a little closer he could come and play with my toys

When I push snow with it I put chains on all 6 tires - - - I do not have a wing but I can stick the main blade out to either side about 4 feet then side shift the circle about another 2 feet so I can move snow about 6 feet away from the tires on one side or the other and the V plow is 11 feet wide so I can clear about 16 to 18 feet in a single pass if it is under 18 inches deep. The county will not pay for that though - - - they only want me to open the center of the road and they follow with plow trucks. That way I don't wipe out mailboxes. The front tires don't drive but I need chains on them to stay on the road.

On mutiple passes in parking lots I just leave the V plow up and use the main blade and clear about 10 feet at a pass.

So far this year I have not pushed any snow but the weatherman is calling for up to 10 inches and high winds Wednesday evening so I am getting ready! I did not push any snow at all last year - - - we never had any!

I feel like I stole these trucks - - - very little to no rust - - - diesel engines, allison automatic transmissions, air brakes blades, like new tires, pintle hitches with glad hands plumbed to the back, state maintained both are 1996 models

I gave $5,900.00 for the one with 80,000 miles and $4,000.00 for the one with 140,000 miles and a new transmisson

If we get some snow this year they should pay for themselves very quickly!
