I find it interesting how God works. I bought a horse over the weekend, against my wife's wishes. The whole deal was kinda fun. Found the horse here on Facebook, out by Guernsey WY. To far to go to get a horse, I think. A week later, the gal that owned him, texts me, and has come down nearly half of her original asking price, which was good to start out with. I say OK, but you have to meet me on the Nebraska side of the line. She says fine, and we make the deal. A couple days later, Lisa Weber dad calls, and has critters out on the mountain, and can't gettem gathered. Can we bring dogs? We stammer and stutter a bit, but figure out how we can get things done here at home, so we can be gone for a few days, and are ready to head out on Thursday. I call the gals that has the horse. Ask if he has ever been roped off of, 'cause I am pretty sure I am gonna get to rope some yearlings, and really didn't want to drag a horse from here all the way to the Wetmore mountains. She says no, but they have swung a rope off of him. Good enough, I might be able to keep him from going over the cliff, I'll pick him up Thursday morning. Wednesday afternoon, Jack calls, and he has all the yearlings gathered, but all the rest of the kids are going to be there. I call Kaile Williams back and tell her I'll get him Sunday about 6. Haven't had all of the kids together since we got married in 06. Would we please come out? Chores are all lined up, so yep we can come out, and we will sleep in the tack room of the horse trailer, so the rest can have the beds.
The weekend was GREAT!!! We leave early enough that I am thinking we are going to be WAYYYYYY early to get my "new" horse, but maybe I can take him for a ride when we get home. Now sleeping in a tack room, above the neck of the trailer was kinda fun, but I am thinking it sure would be nice to have a trailer with living quarters, and a real bed. There was a horse show around Denver, and LOTS of REALLY NICE living quarter trailers were on the road. I was driving just fast enough to give me the thrill of breaking the law, but not really going to get a ticket. We were passing some nice trailers, and talking about how big they were, and shiny, and how we would really like to have one. We pass one in particular and comment that it WAS the ONE. Shortly there after, we stop for fuel, and not think anymore about it. Well, 20 miles down the road, I am once again in the fast lane, getting my fix of breaking the law, at 77 mph, when we see a horse trailer sitting along side the road. I dive over to the shoulder, and pull up behind the trailer of my dreams, with NO TIRES on the right hand side. They had 3 MONSTER horses on, 3 ladies along with their groom, I assume, and NOWAY to get the horses off the highway. Here we are, empty, with some time to kill before picking up "Pink" the new horse. We jump the monsters in our trailer, haul them up to Casper WY, 90 miles out of the way for us, but we had time, trailer, and the willingness to do it. God began working out these details, nearly a month before we stopped to help them out.
