Made a phone call tonight to a friend in Kemmerer...... his wife told me that he had passed away this morning.
Now Joe was raised on a ranch in the Bridger Valley where he was a 4-H and FFA livestock judge, wrestler and football player.
Him and his wife both taught School in Kemmerer along with a ranch on the Hams Fork and an open range Ranch down on the Black Fork along I-80 by Little America. Joe was also a wrestling, football and track coach. They had to children the oldest boy was a State Heavyweight wrestling champ, and track, throwing. He had a Scholarship to Weber State where he both wrestled and played football and was on the president's list with a 3.97 grade aver. He transferred to Creighton this year and is again on both the track and football teams. The Daughter is a junior this year and won State discus last spring. They have shown animal with my kids at the fair for years.
I was calling tonight to ask if they still had some rams for me .I bought my last few black face rams from Joe. Also I wanted to tell him about Tenny and her knee. Joe would go and cheer for her at all the track meets that they were both at last spring.
Never saw Joe at the state track meet, He got bucked of a horse and didn't seem to get well. The reason Cancer along his back bone, skull and kidneys.
Good bye to a good friend, coach, teacher and stockmen.

Our condolences. It is hard to see such a vital person leave. It sounds like he had a rich and full life.

I like this poem very much, and think it fits a lot of folks.

Outriders At The End Of The Trail
BY WALLACE McCRAE

They contemplate their town-boot toes
As they stand around and mill.
They check the south horizon,
Across the tracks above the hill.
Their suitcoats hint of mothballs.
Their Levis are clean and creased.
They speak of grass or cattle
But never the deceased.

Some have shook the Governor's hand,
And ones been in the pen.
Crooked legs define the bronc hands,
Cropped-off thumbs the dally men.
Their spring-toothed necks are throttled up
In silky black wild rags.
Their faces scored like flower stamps
On well-worn saddle bags.

They've come early to the funeral home,
Yet don't want to go inside.
There's no comfort in a breathless room
Or words of eventide.
They somehow share a secret bond
As each one recollects:
Together. Separate. Silently.
Each pays his last respects.

You'll hear no keening to the vaulted skies,
But the good hands know when a good hand dies.

Cancer is an insidious disease. Its a shame some doctors and drug companies don't ever want to find a cure. Wouldn't it be nice if money didn't rule our world and everyone were nice to each other.

Just curious why you think that considering there is so much research being done to find treatments to prolong life and research to find cures.

I'm a nurse and I don't like some doctors much. Gone are the days where the good old GP truly cared for his patients. Its the almighty dollar that rules these days. We have a doctor in our little town that sees upwards of 60 patients a day. That is way too many. Quality service is lacking, this is like a production line. I commend researchers for their continued research but by the time they process their results the drug companies have wind of it and worry about the money they will lose. There are too many hyperchondriacs in this world (often doctors have made them that way by getting them to keep coming back) These type of people really annoy me,I value being healthy and well. If doctors used more natural remedies in conjunction with their treatment things would look up.

I've seen some friends who tried to handle their cancers with natural remedies and it put them quickly in the grave. Other friends have submitted to the cancer specialists' chemo regimens and have been free and clear of cancers for years and back to productive busy lives. Some of these were complex cases where the outcome was not looking good.
Those vitamin salesmen on tv that claim sweeping cures ought to be ashamed of themselves for leading folks astray.
