We sold our steers and 50 of our heifers last week. It was a good decision to hold our calves over last fall as they paid us $160.00 over what we had in them considering they were only worth maybe $420 last fall.

Nearly a full load of steers weighed 684 lbs and brought $1.21 per lb. These are the last draft in the ring.

A draft of the heavy steers that weighed up well. The truck ride out of here sure gives the buyers a good shrink. :(

On the heifer end there were 21 head that weighed 543 and brought $116.50. A group that we felt were to large framed to keep as replacements were 706 lbs and brought $104.50. Had we sold all the heifers, we would have marketed a 102% calf crop from last year. We've had our 1 good year of ranching.

Congratulations Gcreek! :D I'm still waiting for my 1 good year of ranching, glad to see it can be done  :D . Your cattle look excellent.

Now take Mrs.Gcreek out for a really good dinner and enjoy! BTW, how's she healing up?

Happy for ya sir! Even a blind pig finds an acorn once in awhile! :D  Now that your loaded, what say ya take some time this fall to take a desert guy hunting moose? :D

those calves look like you did a good job on them, glad it all worked out pretty good for you..............good luck

Thanks for the comments everyone. :tiphat:

Mrs. Gcreek got a bouquet of flowers delivered to her pillow when I got home on Saturday night AND taken out to supper on Mothers Day. :D

I was allowed to stay in town for a machinery sale where I made sure the tax man will not get any support with the purchase of another tractor and a root rake. Will take some photos of the rake when it gets delivered as I think some of you prairie folks will want to know what one looks like.

Just think what they'd have been worth if they were black :???:  :P

I know- feedlots in Canada seem to be much more color blind in comparison to down here...Anyway Congrats gcreekrch......

I hope you sold to soon as i shipped almost 300 out to grass for the summer :?

I wish you the best.
I know where nearly all of our steers went as grass cattle, it will be interesting to see if they make money for their new owners also.
