Happy Birthday Big Muddy

Thanks :D I forgot to mention it's on Thursday.

Happy Birthday Big Muddy-- VJ Day... That was my uncles birthday and he said the Japanese surrender was the greatest birthday present he ever got, since he was one of the force scheduled to invade Japan..

I have a daughter in the hospital in labor and if she keeps piddling around she may not have my new granddaughter til your birthday...

OT:
In the past few years, I have visited with some of the people who were 19 years old in August of 1945. They were in the Pacific waiting for the invasion of Japan, They expected that of the first three waves of invaders on Japan, all would be killed. They said that while 18 year olds were being drafted, they were not put in combat until they were 19.

If Truman had not decided to use the atomic bomb they believe they would not have come home. Funny, they would not talk about these things until they were old men.

Yep-- I know my Dad and Uncle never regretted Trumans decision...They figured the invasion of Japan could cost beteen 1/2 and 1 million US troops...My uncle did spend a year there with the occupation forces tho...

Big Muddy- the grandaughter didn't wait for your birthday- Chesney Kay came into the world at 2:11 AM this morning and weighed 7 lbs 8 ozs. and was 20 inches long...Grandma got home from the hospital, about when I was getting up--I was busy all morning- so didn't get in to see her- and they want to let them rest this afternoon from all the morning visitors  - and volunteered to watch the other daughters little one so she can go to the demo derby this evening- so probably won't get to see her until tomorrow...But Grandma says she is "beautiful".....

I'd also like to offer good luck wishes to the folks at SSAP. Lazy Ace and I had the opportunity to meet the menfolk of SSAP at the Agribition last fall. They are a truly first class outfit!

Happy Birthday BMR...will Miss Tam give you the same number of swattin's as your years? I sure hope they don't have to call the Fire Dept to help put out the candles!

OT...Congrats on the new Grandkiddo. I hope Mom and babe are doing well.

The the veterans out there...thanks again for your service. This thread has just highlighted the Hell and sacrifice you all go through to serve and protect our country and it's citizens (many of whom take this for granted and are certainly not nearly as thankful for your service as they should be.) THANK YOU!

Cheers---

TTB

Belated Happy Birthday Big Muddy :cowboy: - I would have toasted it with a drink if I would have read this sooner :D

Turkey Track Bar, thanks for the nice words. Mark next mid-August on your calendar  Scratch that ... our home is always open to visitors, you don't have to wait for that particular day ! But if someone does want to come to the open house; just send me a quick note so we can let them know the 2009 date.

We had a super day. The weather co-operated and we received lots of positive compliments on the herd and being able to see the mamma cows (and the horses). The group enjoyed a relaxing evening of visiting - something everyone said should be done more often! We'd considered some kind of evening entertainment but I think we'll stick with the "just visiting" part. We're just really happy that these folks made time to fit us into their busy schedules.

OT - you were allowed to anticipate and 'wonder' about the new grandbaby but I hope you left the floor walking up to your daughter's husband. :P

I did- I went to the rodeo instead...And when I finally got up to hospital the next day to see the new Chezney, I couldn't hardly get it out of his arms... They're pretty happy with the new babe...
