The return of U.S. beef is a big news story in Taiwan

Subsequent Sunday arrivals amounting to an estimated 30 metric tons, and products flown in daily throughout this week, were quickly snapped up by foodservice operators and retailers who found customers willing to line up for U.S. beef. Shoppers at Costco's Neihu branch, a destination hypermart for U.S. beef aficionados in Taipei, were greeted with a huge banner outside the store welcoming back U.S. beef. Its initial two metric tons of U.S. beef shipments, placed on store shelves Monday April 25th, were snapped up by shoppers in a few hours. As of the end of last week, all major retailers were reporting problems keeping product on the shelves, especially of popular items such as well-marbled boneless short ribs. According to market observers, the first sea shipments of U.S. beef, scheduled to arrive Taiwan in the first half of May, should bring greater supply stability to the market.

Respone: So much for Australian grass fed beef!!! Have a great day.

Careful......those grass fed bovines are getting a lot of attention these days. Early studies...many under way.....suggest more tender meat on pasture than dry grain. We all may be in for a change from the long standing thought that...corn fed beef.... was the best. (except for pastrami and cornbeef sandwiches!!!!!LOL)

Thanks Agman for the great news. It has been one of those crazy planting days here, and I sure did need to hear some good news to lift the spirits up!!!

GASP!

With Canadian beef in the mix?????

What are they thinking???

Don't they know R-CULT has said that Canadian beef is tainted?????

Don't they know that R-CULT said imports of Canadian boxed beef will jeoprodize our export markets????

This can't be??????

Thanks for the good news Agman.

One more R-CALF falacy shot down in flames.

~SH~ Are you sure that there was Canadian beef in the mix-- the USDA proposal I saw showed that they had agreed to send only verified US origin beef to Taiwan, Egypt, and others requesting it.......

the US is buying beef from canada in huge numbers. It only makes sense for The US to use it for export cause it is in a box and ready for shipping , all they need to do is slap on a usda sticker and away it goes. It is of course US origin as it was shipped from the US. Have a nice day

~SH~ Heres the announcement from APHIS-- (cattle slaughtered in the United States)--USDA hasn't been too public about it, but they have come up with a completely new "branded beef" program -- they are approving slaughter houses that can verify it is of US origin and US slaughtered and under 30 months for those countries like Egypt and Taiwan that want only US beef-- These countries are importing only from those "approved plants" May see the same for Japan (altho the age is still up in the air with them)..........

04/07/05 Taiwan is accepting boneless beef from cattle slaughtered in the United States at an age under 30 months, effective April 16, 2005

Looks like it is another sarcastic statement from Scott that has been shot down in flames.

Guess ol SH flapped his lips too soon

Maybe R-CALF knows a little bit after all.

This is indeed good news. Some are predicting it will take several years to win the entire Pacific Rim's confidence back.

Creekstone's business had been as high as 50% exports. Just think guys, $3-4 BILLION lost in the U.S. because of the positive cow in Washington. Scary. I wonder if Canada's total loss can even be estimated?
