Good Sunday Mornin

I am doing Good Sunday Mornin on Saturday Night this week. Usually I type it before bedtime Saturday and submit it on Sunday Morning. I fear my generator will run out of gas during the night; we have been out of electricity since 11:00 am Thursday morning—probably a day or two yet before they get the poles up and our power is restored. Last Wednesday night we had quite a blow come in. I woke up around 4:00 when the wind hit. Looking outside it was just rain, and I thought "we're gonna miss this one." When I got up again about daylight, I thought "we gonna catch a bad one." We had a blizzard going. My barn that sits about 50 yards south of the house had got up and left—right when the stock here at home needed it the most. I have no idea where it was, but about 4:30 in the afternoon (when the snow stopped of course) it came back and sat down right where it always stays. We smile at the thought of a barn leaving and returning. I am very confident that my barn was actually there, but due to the clutter of the storm, I was unable to see it. Sometimes in the matter of day to day life, we have quite a "storm" blow in. We might even wonder where God is, and why all this is happening. In my old leather bound book there is a story of a feller named Lazarus that died, and his sister, Martha says to Jesus "if you had been here none of this would have happened!" (That is right out of Shortgrass Standard Version) Of course, we know God had orchestrated the whole course of events in order to show himself strong. When the storms of life blow, we'll do well to know that our God is there for us even if there is some "clutter" from the storm that makes it hard for us to see Him.

The storm wasn't that hard on the cattle. I haven't heard of any losses other that all the power poles that snapped—hundreds of them. Have yourself a good Sunday mornin and a good rest of the week.

Shortgrass, I really appreciate your Sunday morning inspirations. Most of us, I imagine, are experiencing a 'storm' in the form of political ads, calls, and mailers. Many, like me, have invested some time, money and effort in order to affect the outcome on Nov. 7. But no matter the results of the election we must all remember that God is in control and "all things" work together for good for those that love Him.

Excellent application Shortgrass. I checked your barn on the way home, solid foundation and right where it's supposed to be....Just like my Savior!
Thanks for the Great thought!

Wet Snow came through here a few days ago too...over-weighted an old tree, and it came down on power-lines...almost burned down a motor-home and horse-barn...took a few long-distance phone calls (the home-ofc was in Oregon ? ? ?) on a steadily weakening cell-phone battery, before the work order was finally processed a few days later, to come out here on the Wind River Rez, and splice in a new line for us and the 80'yr old couple across from us. Water has been going on and off several times...been off for 24hrs now...I have a water-truck coming in to water our horses, but probably take a trip to the local truck-stop to get myself a shower and do some laundry.

Things could be worse.

Are there any among you who know of a large enuf (1000 head or more) outfit who'se feeling short handed ?

Single, clean-cut fella here, quiet with horse and I have a few ranch-related ref's avail to email; ready to pack it in and leave central Wyo behind for awhile...not interested in farming jobs or ATV/Calf-Table outfits.

There is more to life than increasing it's speed...

You could always submit your name to the Sandhills Cattle Association. They act as a clearing house to get ranchers and potential help together. There is no charge, and their phone number is: 800-658-0551. Their web page is: www.sandhillscattle.com

Good luck.
