Colorado Springs has one of the prettiest dumps in the nation. It is magnificent. Oh, I don't mean the dump; it is just a dump with all the discards of society. I mean the location of the dump. If you'll just lift your eyes above the trash and clutter there awaits a most beautiful scene. There is so much to see: Pikes Peak, Mt Baldy stretching off to the south, the Sangre De Christo Range, the Spanish Peaks and mesas fading on into New Mexico. This is a distance of over 150 miles. This scene continues to attract people to the region as it has since the white man discovered it. Many of the people, who have moved here because of the geographical features, are so busy, that they never take time to stop and enjoy them. I am as guilty as anyone of this crime (at least it ought to be a crime). We Christians are often too busy to just stop and soak up the grandeurs of our Great and Mighty God. We must lift our eyes above the cares of this world and look at Him. He is so powerful that He has hung the moon and stars; He commands the wind and rains, and yet, He cares enough about you and me that He became flesh, dwelt among us and gave His life for us. Pretty amazing, huh? . Thanksgiving is a holiday that has lost its real meaning in many homes. Oh, lots of people are "glad I got this or that," but do they thank God? Is our gratitude turned toward the giver of all good and perfect gifts? You all have yourselves a good Sunday mornin' and a good rest of the week. Oh, by the way don't forget to look up!

Thank you once again, Shortgrass, for another thought provoking Divinely Inspired post. I hope you are compiling and keeping all of these "mini-sermons" to publish a printed book at some later time. It would make a dandy daily devotional. :-)

Well the west was settled by those that were not wanted elsewhere. Mormons pushed out of Missouri and Illinois, black sheep royalty not wanted in Europe, loners like the trappers, outlaws, and people just trying to hide from other people being dept, marriage or family.

funny you should mention the stars, shortgrass....went out to warm up the car at about 6 this morning and the sky was so clear that i stopped and stared in awe......the milky way that our good Lord created was right there in all her glory!!! What a sight to start your day by!! :D

I often stop when I'm out checking cows in calving season, cast my eyes upwards and just stare in awe at all the stars in the heavens. Sometimes the beauty of it just takes my breath away. Other times, it makes you realize how small we all are in the great big universe.

There are so many natural wonders and sights in this big ole world. I hope some day to see some more. They were put here for our eyes to feast upon.

We traveled a bit over the weekend, and stayed in fair sized towns two nights running. Last night when we got home the first thing I really noticed were the stars in the sky overhead. So many people live where they can barely see them because of man-made light.

What can really make a fella think of what else there is to this world is when the Northern Lights are dancing all over sky...I don't think there is a greater spectacle.....
