Some of us couldn't run cattle without horses to help us. A good cow pony in my opinion is one that works by himself without much cue. There are good reining horses which have a real good handle on them, and that is great assistance in working cattle. The best horses, though, are the ones who learn what is expected of them, and are a step ahead of you and the cow. That kind of mount will have a cow headed before you can even react. Psalm 32:8&9 (look it up) tell us that our Heavenly father will teach us how to walk with him, and that we should grow beyond the point of needing "cued" with a bit or bridle as to whether to turn left or right or stop. He will guide us and teach us to walk with him and like Him, knowing what is right and doing it. It doesn't happen over night, and requires consistent practice. We cannot turn to Him only in catastrophic situations and ignore His leading when things go to suit us. That lifestyle will only cause Him to need to "get our attention" (last half of verse 9). We need daily to practice our Walk with Him, and when tough times are upon us we are more sensitive to the leading of the Lord. Each day we need to pray, and read that ol' leather bound book, and when a situation arises, we'll be prepared. So, ya missed a yesterday-- don't miss today. Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin' and a good rest of the week.
