I was setting a new corner post last week. That tie was solid; it weighed 200 pounds. What a struggle for this ol' goat to get that thing moved around to its new home on the range. Then I grabbed a ton bale and set it in a feeder with little effort. The difference? Hydraulics, man hydraulics! Hydraulics are a wonderful tool to move the unmovable, and manage the unmanageable. Sometimes in life we are faced with some mighty heavy burdens, and face some unmanageable situations. We have a wonderful tool at our disposal to move the unmovable and manage the unmanageable. It is called prayer. Philippians 4:6 tells us not to worry about things, rather to pray about them, and be sure to thank God for all your blessings in the process (That is the Shortgrass Standard Version). Amazing how well it works—better than hydraulics! We tend to have a problem with prayer though we seldom admit or perhaps recognize it. We want to do something with tangible, visible and immediate results. Yes we also want it our way. It is necessary for us to recognize that perhaps God is going somewhere with us that we don't know about. If we don't know where we are headed, how can we know the best way to get there? For prayer to work, it must be accompanied by trust. Trusting that God knows best, and cares enough about us to do what is best for us. I believe that, and that makes prayer work well. I am often disappointed in myself when I fail to utilize this wonderful privilege. Well have yourself a good Sunday Mornin', and a good rest of the week.
Today is Earth Day. Every day is Earth Day when you are a rancher. God gave us the responsibility to care for it. Most of us are good at it too!
