Lots of brandings going on across the ranchlands. We got ours done today. There were several going on around our neighborhood. We finished in time to make it to the local high school graduation. There, I heard a horror story from one of the other brandings. The person who had been given the job of vaccinating was careless in his work. He had on two occasions poked the wrestlers with a needle. One fella was pretty 'green' after the incident, so both men were taken to the hospital. I haven't heard how they were feeling tonight. Vaccinating is not a complicated job, but it does require care and attention. Be careful to give every calf a proper dose in the correct manner, and DON"T stab people! The Lord gives us opportunity to serve Him. Sometimes the job seems pretty simple, and anyone could do it. That is no excuse to be careless in our tasks. Carelessness can have tragic results. If we are a teacher, be precise and diligent to be the best. If an usher, be alert to the worship environment to make it the best you possibly can. I think the custodians at a church hold a most important job. Your place to serve God may not be highly visible, but you are an important link in the chain. No excuse for carelessness in any job, but especially not in our service for Him. Sometimes we are very diligent in our secular work, but get careless in our volunteer positions. We feel less accountability, but we should never forget that it is often the most important job of lasting consequence that we will ever do. Have yourselves a good Sunday morning', and a good rest of the week too.

Good "points" to your message this morning, Shortgrass.

Shoot (pun intended :? ), I even gave myself a shot last winter. It hurt, and the base of my thumb swelled up so it looked like a turkey drumstick. This I don't recommend to anyone, especially when using blackleg vaccine which is what I was using.

The guys that got shot feel badly, but we must also feel a bit of compassion for the shootee. He surely didn't intend for this to happen. Carelessness should not be condoned, and the fact that it happened twice shows that carelessness was definitely a factor. The vaccinator should at least be demoted to the status of wrestler and lose his more elite job. Still, if the "shooter" has any concience at all, he probably feels just as badly this morning on the "inside" as the "shootees" do on the "outside." All three of the people involved would probably appreciate some Sunday morning prayers today.

Thanks, Shortgrass, for another fine message and wake-up call. :-)

wish I had read this before my daughter's high school graduation on the 20th!!! I'd have printed this off and handed a copy to each of her 25 classmates!!! BEAUTIFUL!!
:D

Thanks Shortgrass!

I've been gone for the better part of the past week and a half. I wanted to say you all have been in our thoughts and prayers, with the loss of your Mom. I am sure it's been a tough go, here the past month or so, but I hope you are finding peace knowing your Mom is in a much better place, and no longer suffering.

Cheers---

TTB
