I remember a hunting trip a few years ago, when I ascended Music Pass high in the Sangre de Cristo Range. I hobbled my horse in near the summit, and crowned the saddle all alone. My, what a view! I sat all by my lonesome gazing down on Crestone Lake, and across at the Crestone Needles. On to the west, the San Luis Valley sprawled. I was "on top of the world," figuratively and literally, but I was all alone. I just wanted so badly to share that page of time with someone, but no one was there. I determined that I would return to that spot with my family. The next summer I did just that. My wife and three daughters drove as far as we could, and walked the remaining distance to the top of the pass, and shared some wonderful time absorbing a bit of God's grandeur. Have you ever seen something when you were alone and just wished that 'so and so' could have been there with you to see that? I think that is a main purpose of all this creation—the earth, and its inhabitants, including us—is that God wanted someone to share his grandeur with. He just wants you and me to stop and soak up the moment with Him every now and then. Let's stop chasing more and more for the moment and just thank God for all that He has given us and done for us here and now. This Sunday mornin' is a good time and maybe for a moment or two each day this week, let's just stop and spend a time in gratitude and awe of our Lord and maker. Do that and you will have a good Sunday mornin' and a good rest of the week!
