The first two rows of corn were planted 3 weeks ahead of the taller rows

This spring, we planted corn in the garden. The first two rows didn't come up that well-about 80% sprouted. We ran out of that seed, and so the later corn was a different variety. It was almost 100% sprout. The second corn that I planted grew much taller and was a beautiful patch of corn. Well, the earlier corn is shorter and kind of spindly lookin' but it is comin' on. You know that corn really did bear pretty well. Two good ears on every stalk, and talk about sweet! The ears are really good regardless of what the plant looks like– I'm impressed! If the ears of the second planting are that good it will be great, but they may not be as impressive as the stalks are. Reminds me of a verse I read in my ol' leather-bound book. Says something about "by their fruits you will know them" (Mat 7:15-20). Sometimes a person may not be all that flashy appearing, but they are so kind, helpful and understanding. Other times a person is charismatic, influential and imposing, but they are actually pretty small people, having only their personal interests in mind. The first person is humble and has a much greater and better impact on the world than the more prideful, imposing figure. Also John said something about we can't bear fruit without Him—John 15:1-5. If our lives are to be beneficial, we must put Christ first, and then we can be fruitful. We really don't need to be a big, imposing figure. Enough of my ramblin', have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a good rest of the week too.

Shortgrass, I thought you might be talking about my mother, God rest her soul. She never finished highschool - at a very young age, she had to go out to work to help keep her family fed.

She wasn't a big or strong woman, but she was tough and you would never meet a kinder person. She loved her Saviour and family. Most of her life, she never had things really new or nice, but she could make any guests feel like they were part of the royal family.

Thank you Shortgrass, and I'm glad you are back this morning.

Yes, Me & my gal are figuring on being there on Wed Aug 29 to attend Colorado Cattlemens and Cattlewomens functions that day. Hope its cool & cloudy! Heat has been a factor in the Pueblo area this summer.

This summer?   I thought that was every summer in Pueblo! I think almost every Colorado State Fair I went to was hot!!!! And, I think every year at least one day there was a flooding rain and hail storm.

Have fun and enjoy the day. There are lots of fine ranchers who are Colorado Cattlemen and Cattlewomen members.

Cheers---

TTB
