This picture was taken at Leadville, Colorado. Mt. Massive in the back, The black mining dump in the forground is what carried great deposits of silver. Lead carbonate is what I think they called it. When the goldrush began in 1859, gold was discovered here in what is called California Gulch. The gold miners soon became discouraged because of the problems they had with this lead substance plugging their sluice boxes. They moved on in search of their fortune. Some fella finally figured out that this Lead carbonate was extremely rich in silver. The early miners had missed their fortune because it didn't appear to be what they expected. It looked like problems to them.

The Lord says in 1 Thes 5:6 that we should not sleep (be unobservant) as do others; but let us watch and be sober (ready to do business). Now if the coming of the Lord will be as the lightning flashes, I think he is not telling us to watch for him as though we wouldn't notice Him, rather to be alert constantly for oportunities to serve him. We can be like the early gold seekers in California Gulch that miss our oportunities because they appear to be problems. We need to train ourselves to see our problems as oportunities. It truly is such a prividlege to serve the maker of the heavens and the earth, even if it only involves carrying a glass of cold water or sweeping a floor. My, it is so easy for me to say things like that, and such a challenge to live it out! Well have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a good rest of the week too.[/img]

Thanks Shortgrass, for another divinely inspired message.

We are being blessed with some fairly serious rain this evening. Probably at least an inch has come down so far tonight, and there are no signs of any let-up yet. This along with the four other inches of rain in the past two weeks is going to set up the fall moisture situation pretty well. The ponds should have some water in them again. :-)

Good message. Years ago when I did construction I would be at the coffee shop at 4:30 when it opened. Wasn't anybody else up that early but an old farmer and a Baptist preacher. One morning the farmer asked the preacher why he got up so early when he didn't have to. The preacher said he was up at 4:00 and walked to the coffee shop so he could walk with God while other men slept.
God bless and have a good week.

Thanks once again for the Sunday message, Shortgrass! Your post reminds me of the signature line I use at another site. It is a quote attributed to Winston Churchill.

"The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty."

That IMO seems to apply to all aspects of both earthly and spiritual life. We will likely succeed at whatever we do with the right attitude. We will likely fail with a wrong or negative attitude even if other factors are in our favor.

Thanks again for your effort in keeping this up. You have no idea how some of your "Sunday Mornin'" words have helped me make through some trying times.

Keep up the good work and I love your pics :)
