As many of you read this on Sunday Morning, I will be at a 4H conference in Pueblo, Colorado delivering a motivational talk to young people on the subject of "dare to be you". I am tweaking the topic in justifiable fashion to be "dare to be right". There is room for a big difference between the two. This world is full of self seeking, selfish, thoughtless individuals who do not care who they hurt in their pursuit of their feel good at the moment activities. They often make a big deal out of not caring what other people think. I feel that is wrong. Having the courage to stand for things that are right is quite another matter. I will develop that thought a bit. The next aim that I will develop is never trade your character for popularity. Popularity is a pretty elusive concept anyway. There is a vast difference between popularity and respect. Since this will be a 4H conference, I am not supposed to have a "Sunday School lesson", so I will develop these ideas and then make the statement that these concepts did not originate with me, but that all the concepts are taught by God in his Holy word. I sure do like that old leather-bound book of mine! I will also pray for these young people; I will dare to be me, and if one of them does not wish to participate in prayer, I hope he will dare to be him. Have yourselves a good Sunday morning, and a good rest of the week.

Shortgrass, you have a great opportunity on this day to truly make a difference in the lives of young people. My prayers are with you. Your convictions are right on target. May God help you deliver just the right message.

In our modern society it seems that at any event possible God is trying to be taken out in order to not offend someone else. In many federal jobs it is unallowable to even wish someone Merry Christmas. The hunters that were here are in the army and higher up. The one said on this topic he could lose his job for wishing someone Merry Christmas. Seems like it's just getting crazier all the time. Good luck to you as you make this speech and if you touch but only one child you've made a difference.

There must have been 40 or so kids at that "Dare to be you camp". I recieved many positive comments after the talk, and really felt encouraged. When I asked the kids what dare to be you meant to them before I had made any comments, the reply from 4 different kids was the courage to do what is right idea that I had would develop. Thanks for all your prayer support. One of the statements that I made was that it is not a constitutional right to never get offended. I really woner if a lot of people arn't afraid to stand for the Lord, when in actuality the repurcussions are more imagined than real. I know when the superintendant at our school changed, that we were able to once again have a CHRISTmas program, and sing Christmas carols. The super changed, but the law did not.
