Good Sunday Mornin'

October and early November has been such nice weather! We have been a bit too dry to suit, but very mild temperature wise. It has been very easy to ignore the fact that this is November. It is winter; we should expect snow and cold weather. This last week has been a shock to the old system as we went from summer to winter in one night. Chopping ice, Muck boots, coveralls became a part of my activities and attire as the scotch cap replaced the straw hat.

Life is full of many truths that are easy to ignore. For instance, death is as real as birth. Heaven and Hell are real too. No one will live eternally in heaven except by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We need His love and grace.

Another often ignored fact is that people are much more inter-dependent than they are independent. We need God, but we need each other too. Without each other, we will face problems. With each other, we will also face problems. Problems are a part of everyday life; we need to face them. Don't face them alone, rather with God and other caring people. Share your problems, help encourage others as they deal with theirs. Church is a place of inter-dependent people depending on a faithful dependable God. Our church needs families, and I'll bet there are churches near you that need families, and if your family does not have a church, it needs one! The family enriches the church, and the church enriches the family. Won't you and your family join in fellowship with others as they worship our mighty God this Sunday? Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin' and a good rest of the week too.

shortgrass---what a beautiful and well-timed message!! I have found out over the last 2 months just how "inter-dependant" we all are!! Without the Lord and without the love and support of my family and friends, these last 8 weeks would have been unbearable!! Prayer and knowing that God is with me at all times has given me the strength to carry on and the boys have been asking lately about Sunday School....maybe not such a bad idea, huh???? Maybe they can get some answers their that "good old mom" just cannot supply!! Thank you so very much for the reminder of God in our daily lives!! As usual, your message means so very much!!

Tommorrow I will be giving the first message I have given from our Churches Communion Table in 3 years......The guy that was supposed to do it had a conflict in that he was asked to preach in Ukiah...So, he called and asked if I would fill in...

A lot has changed in three years. For one, I will need to remember my reading glasses when I go up there. The "ceremony" and the position of the table has changed a bit. The fact that I will present communion to only one service and the fact that we are now an Independent Christian Church.....

But notice, all of the changes are with us. With Communion, we change from week to week, Month to Month and year to year. One time we may come to Communion with a burden of a sick relative where the next we may have nothing but a thankfull heart for all the blessings we see....

Yet God remains the same in it all...There for us, Body and blood of Christ. To accept what we lay at the cross, regardess of the changes in our body, the situations we find ourselves in or the attitude we bring.

Hebrews 13: 8 "Jesus Christ is the same Yesterday and Today and Forever".....This, we do in remembrance of him......

Thank you, Shortgrass for well-expressed comments which reminded me of a discovery about 4 yrs. ago when we joined a church and were faced with a swarm of new faces and names to learn. I joined an evening women's Bible study, a comfortable group of gals, and had 14 or more new friends presto! Then we joined in a mission trip some in the church were taking- about 20 more new friends presto! Then we invited a Home Group of church members to meet in our home every other Sunday night- 14 plus MORE extremely jovial new friends presto!! I added up over 80 new friends we'd made in one way or another IN ONLY ONE YEAR by joining that church- all folks I'd feel free to call on if I had any burden or need. As a couple of the Home Group folks said one night, "This is my FAMILY!" What a gift from God that is missed my those holding themselves "independent".

Thanks shortgrass. Especially thanks for the three words that you share each weekend that remind me about dedication. After reading your notes for a good long time - I started to see the merit once again in spending an hour each "Good Sunday Morning" in dedication and spirituality. As for the church part --- well I'm sorry , but there I say each to their own. I deal with people every day and somehow find it hard personally to concentrate on giving thanks when a whole bunch of other folks are around. I just got back from my church Shortgrass, and it was another wonderful "Good Sunday Morning". The cool breeze all but stops when I reach the middle of the bush where I go to reflect on my week and thank God for allowing me all that I have on this earth. My dog sometimes breaks the peace and quite while she chases a squirrel up a spruce tree, and the odd coyote, deer, moose or majestic owl does the same. But those distractions don't last and peace is definitely easy to find.

Thanks Shortgrass - your simple three words are enough for me - and the rest of them never hurt either.
