Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish come true tonight.

One of the greatest benefits of living in rural areas is the privilege of watching the night sky. First one star will appear, and then the stars just seem to tumble out and fill the whole sky getting brighter, and brighter. Did you ever try to spot that first star that you made a wish on and then try to pick it out 30 minutes later? Can't do it. At least I can't. This star, that must be the brightest of all, just gets lost in the crowd. At this season of the year, people will do and give many special things for people that are special to them. They will shine brightly for a time, and then, if we are not careful, that special deed will be lost in the hustle and bustle of the season and easily forgotten or little appreciated. If we try to just do something nice for special people, and sincerely appreciate the fact that we are special enough to someone that they did some little something for us, we may be surprised. See how long the list of people who are special, and to whom you are special, will get. Remember, you don't "have" to buy anything for any one—only do it because you want to do something for them. That is precisely why Christ came to earth on our behalf. He is God and He does not "have" to do anything—only if He chooses to. He chose to give Himself for our benefit. Remember to put that special deed on the head of your list! Well have yourself a good Sunday Mornin', and a good rest of the week too.
 
Thanks for the nice Christmas message, Shortgrass. No one can top the gift that God gave us, when He sent His Only Son to die for us, that we might live forever in Eternity.

We went to the big city of Rapid yesterday. There were lots of people and they were all on the move. It was hard to keep track of my own special stars of family, among the multitudes of other folks milling about. :wink: Now I know and remember what a duck out of water feels like, because I sure was one. :-)

Shortgrass, you sure captured the true spirit of the season in those few lines!!!!

At this time of year especially we are constantly bombarded with TV and radio ads and our mailboxes overflow with the worldly message to buy/buy/buy. Huge retailers guage much of their annual financial success or failure on the "Holiday season" (Holiday season, that's a rant for another thread! :wink:)

The best gifts and the ones I treasure most are the ones of little or no monetary value in a worldly sense.

Last week my uncle in NE mailed me a big ziploc bag full of his homemade peanut brittle. Cost him $5.70 to mail the stuff but he did save 41 cents by including my Christmas card in the package! :roll: :wink: :lol:

I don't know a thing about making peanut brittle, but I think it's somewhat tricky as to cooking time and temp. I know sometimes it comes out too soft and sticky. Sometimes it's so hard it's like concrete. This batch he sent me is perfect!

You have a good Sunday morning and rest of the week, and enjoy those gifts from special people given in the true spirit of the season.

We happened to grace the big city of Rapid yesterday also. All I can say is that when we got home last night I was just thanking my lucky stars just to get out of there in on piece.
Good message Shortgrass. We don't have a mercury light by our house. I have a porch light and rarely use it. Nothing like a cloudless night and a million stars above. The stars will have another meaning thanks to your message.
