Ranchers are, in general a self disciplined lot. God created man to be self disciplined. More and more, I feel many people mistake no discipline for self discipline. They mistake being your own boss for having no boss. People think that doing what ever I want, getting my selfish desires is what freedom means, and they have no thought toward self government or self restraint. Most people are more lenient on themselves than on others. We tend to judge other people on their actions—what they get done. We tend to judge ourselves on our intentions. What we would have done if problems or distractions had not occurred. We must learn to discipline ourselves so that we actually do things rather than intended to do things. For instance, I marvel at all the people that have sent cards to us, and then hang my head when I think of all the unsent cards that I intended to send. Even if we might think of ourselves as self disciplined, maybe we should consider how to improve ourselves. I need to discipline myself to spend more good time in prayer and Bible study. Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a good rest of the week.
