One of the reasons that I check Ranchers regularly is so that I can keep track of how Ty is doing on the rodeo circuit. NR, I always check your stuff to keep up. Many people ask "why" when someone rodeos. Why risk the injury, or why endure the pain? The reason is simple enough to me. You do it to win the prize!! An athlete endures pain, as he or she competes, in order to win!! If I competed, there would be no winning, just the pain and risk! In the overall scenario of life, there is a lot of pain and risk involved. There is no avoiding that. All of us have our set of problems to deal with. Jan is facing her 5th surgery since February. Also, I am aware of some of the heavy things that burden you, but I know that each of you experience or will experience some hard, hard things, physically and/or emotionally. We ask ourselves, why? Why do I endure life? Is there a purpose? It can be done for the prize that is laid up for us. There can be purpose and a reason for life, but there doesn't have to be. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord? If we have, then we can say, with Paul, that "there is no reason to lose heart. Although the outward man is perishing, the inward man is gaining strength every day. The pain of the hour is temporary, but the glory of the reward is for all eternity." (that is 2 Corinthians 4:16 & 17 according to the SSV-Shortgrass Standard Version) Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a good rest of the week.

Thanks, Shortgrass. We attended a wedding this afternoon, and the wedding dance tonight. One of the best dancers at the party was a young man who very nearly lost his life in a motorcycle accident several years ago. The doctors had recommended and wanted to unhook life support, but his family prayed and perservered. It was a miracle that the young man recovered. Watching him and his pretty wife out on the dance floor gave real meaning to the Bible verse: "But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." —Matthew 19:26 ...

Shortgrass, you have no idea how timely your message is for folks who attended the funeral yesterday of a young mother from this community. She was driving alone on a gravel road and was killed in the single car accident. The car rolled and she was thrown out. She left 3 young children and her fiance behind.

Why a young mother in the prime of life is taken from her family we'll never know. This is a very hard thing for the family and community. But the Lord is there to get all of us through it.

Best wishes for Jan on her upcoming surgery. I'm sure there will be many ranchers.net folks prayers included for her this week!

Thank you for your wise and Christ-like words each week. Our little community is going through some off those tough times you spoke about. Two wonderful people are battling cancer and it's been a hard fight. Today we learned at church that one of our two school teachers at our elementary school has cancer as well and is in the hospital. Our little town is reeling but we'll put our faith in the Lord and his plan. I'll be sendin' some prayers over the rockies to you and your wife. Hope all goes well with the surgery. Your weekly message helps me remember that it isn't about how we die, but how we live! Bless you and your big heart!

Thank You Shortgrass. Woke up this morning in a foul mood and halfway feeling sorry for myself with a number of problems I have to work out.
I feel better after reading your wise words. Joel 2:25 "And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten," Jane and I send our prayers for Jan. For all of you..."May the Peace of our Lord be with you always"

You know shortgrass,I sometimes feel like your walking right behind me and know what words I'm needing in my week....Powerful!!

My prayers are, as always with you and Jan :)

Mrs Greg, it just may be that the same one who walks with you must be walking with me. We'll just thank Him!!! Jan came thru surgery today fine. She is experiencing a lot of discomfort this time, so pray that will soon pass. Thanks---

Thanks Shortgrass for this week's message. Reading through the posts this week I was reminded of another passage in Corinthians, God of all comfort.

2 Corinthians 1:2-5

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ."

Have a good week.
