My son-in-law in Wisconsin has taught his kids to refer to their Ford Tractors as the 901 or the 5000 or 7000 as the case or should I say Ford (pun intended) may be. His little 4 year old son was sitting in church when the preacher referred to the feeding of the 5,000. Little Kyle excitedly blurted (out loud) "Jesus had a tractor!" Mommy is trying to hush him but the boy is full of questions. "What did he feed his tractor??" Aren't kids great? In the story of the feeding of the 5,000 (John 6:1-14), it is a young boy that steps up and offers what little he had. I'm sure there were many present that had much greater resources available them, but they knew that what they had was inadequate, so they did not offer anything. The boy probably didn't care that he had little to offer, and the Lord was able to do far more than anyone ever imagined he could with what little the young boy had. What you have may not be much, but our Lord's hand is not short, and He will do much with a willing heart. The question is not how young or how old, how much, or how capable, rather it is simply, how willing are you? One of Christ's greatest miracles came because a young boy was willing to give what he had, even though it seemed inadequate to eveyone but the Lord. Well, have yourself a good Sunday mornin' and a good rest of the week too.

Thank you for reminding me that my best is plenty for the Lord. Sometimes we all feel we don't measure up. But He judges us as a perfect judge, not as an imperfect man who needs a lot of dusting off when he falls. Hope you and your wife are blessed. Thank you for the way you share His words and make our lives a little brighter!!! Hope this Utah rain heads east over to your place and brightens your grass!!!

The monsoon has been active here, leanin' H, and your rains have helped immensley. The rains are spotty. My winter grass has had several good rains, and is in good shape. My summer range is still dry, and I doubt that I go over there with any cattle this year. I hope I can find affordable feed to make up the difference, as I won't have any winter grass. It looks like your high country is lots better than it is down lower according to your gatherin strays post.

Thanks for the message Shortgrass! Your grandson certainly knows good blue tractors when he sees them!

The story of the little boy who had faith that Jesus could feed the 5000 goes well with the Gospel reading at church today from Mt 14:22-23. Jesus went up on the mountain alone to pray, leaving the disciples in the boat offshore.

The storm comes up and tosses the boat. The disciples are terrified from the storm and from this "ghost" who turns out to be Jesus walking toward them across the water.

So Jesus tells Peter to come to Him across the water. Peter does fine as long as he concentrates on the Lord. Then Peter gets distracted by the wind and rough water and begins to sink, and Jesus has to reach out to Peter and get him back in the boat.

The deacon at church today told of helping his grandkids walking on the rail fence of his yard. Not quite the same as Peter walking on water of course, but the lesson in faith was similar. Concentrate on what Jesus tells you and you can do it. Don't get distracted by earthly or evil things, or you will fall. We all need to have the faith of a small child.
